I think big men who exploit Javale are generally centers that can't exploit Haywood, but they eat Javale alive when he's the only big in the game. A very simple solution would be McGee / Haywood.
If McGee can play alongside Blatche, like he did tonight, why can't he play with Haywood in an expanded role?
Just giving McGee minutes is a big step for Flip. The more McGee plays the better he'll play.
No doubt. If you like Blatche as a weak side defender to Haywood just image McGee. Blatche is not a great leaper. McGee is.
I think Flip had a lot of work to do with lots of players on this team. There was a lot of clean up work to be done. So much of the start of the season was about bringing Gil back into the fold. Then we add AJ to the mix and it was about getting all three of them going. Without Gil there, I think Flip has an easier joke getting everyone moving in the same direction.
I can see some signs that some players are growing. I see it in Nick. He seems to be growing up this year. Blatche started the year well then had a lapse. Hopefully he getting back to where he was.
But a huge thing this team needs is some stability. They have had so many starting line ups this year it's crazy.
But if DS can keep it up, then you have your starters.
Foye, DS, CB, AJ, BH and you have your bench Boykins, NY, MM, AB, McGee with DMAC and Fabo behind them. Hopefully this is where we will be once we have MM back and once Flip commits to giving McGee the back up center job.
