Sign Nick Young to the QO and pursue a stop-gap option in the middle like Dalembert or Kristic on a 1-2 year deal.

Dalembert/Seraphin
Smith/Lewis/Booker
Batum/Lewis
Young/Crawford
Wall/FA

Add in whoever we take with the ATL pick and we should be much improved. Assuming Seraphin becomes another version of Perkins, we could be set for a while.

I'm not comfortable banking on Seraphin being the center of the future. I'd like to have either McGee or Jonas as a higher-upside prospect.

So basically, if we gave up the #3 for Smith, I wouldn't be too enthused about trading McGee for Batum. I think it'll be easier to find a stop gap SF than it will be to find another decent center. We also have a bit more time to find that SF since Lewis is on the roster another year.

I just want to echo Pine's original message:

Most of us want you here on the board, Ace. We just want you to be a productive contributor, not a constant antagonist. I hope you can understand that balance and choose to treat the people here with respect and civility.

Earlier in the thread someone mentioned Batum. I think he would be a pretty good trade target. They have traded for GWallace who has a few years left on his deal. They also have Mathews and Roy at the 2. I don't see them resigning Batum.

They also need a big since they got rid of Prz, Oden is always hurt Camby is getting old. There could be a deal there somewhere.

Bipolar or not, everyone has to take personal responsibility for how they think and respond to moods, circumstances, and interactions with others.

Fokus, I don't know what is wrong but I assure you everyone here has issues. Noone should feel smug, insensitive, or disdainful on the premise that they are better than you. On the other hand, I have personally found folks tend to be on good terms with me as I have respected them.

A book that really helped me a lot to deal with situations, circumstances, past difficulties, personal failings, annoying folks/enemies, etc. is Mind Over Mood: Change How You Feel by Changing How You Think

I really learned about myself and how to put a positive spin on things. More importantly, it is imperative to your health that you feel good and that you give the best to the world around you.

When you give love, TRUST ME, you get it back. :)

Fokus, I've made peace with someone who once assaulted me and who I was close to killing years ago. I've made friends with women I've flat out taken advantage of their goodness and love for me and others who have used and abuse me. I laugh now with folks who couldn't stand me just a couple years ago. I get so much respect now I feel like the mayor.

So, all I'm saying is it will be okay if you make it so by choosing to take the high road and by losing the BS that is bringing your mood down. It will pass. No matter how down I may feel it's a blessing to be an overcomer and a happy person who loves to share joy.

Even hating on Flip makes me feel guilty-- :)

Life is too good to stay down!

They don't have any 1st rounders this year do they? I like Batum, but at same time I'm wondering if he's a product of a good system in Portland and if he'd just suck over here. I'd prolly risk it though, McGee is potential and thats all at this point.

Would Portland take Booker and the ATL pick for Batum? I assume his value has fallen in their eyes somewhat, thus the Wallace trade.

Given that he is a free agent in 2012, I don't think I'd even give up Booker. If we want him, we can just try and sign him in 2012. Maybe we cough up that Atlanta pick just to make sure we have RFA rights, but no more than that.

That would be sweet though:
Blatche + #3 for Josh Smith
#20 for Batum
resign Nick Young since Josh Smith's salary destroys our cap space in 2012 plans anyhow.

New lineup:
PG Wall
SG Young/Crawford
SF Batum/Lewis
PF Smith/Booker
C Seraphin/McGee

That lineup could play some serious D, especially if Seraphin improves. I like that Batum and Smith are 4-6 year vets yet still younger than 25. The only knucklehead left on the roster is McGee, and he's playing for a contract and will probably exhibit his best work habits.

Offensively I think we're gonna have problems scoring. You've got 2 scorers on that team, Lewis and Young. Pure scorers. I mean...it's a pretty good lineup, defensively we should be fine, but I worry about the offensive firepower.

Another thing, Atlanta barely makes picks...they basically handed us over their pick in 2011 because of tax issues so I'm not sure why they'd be so inclined in adding Blatche's salary + the $5 million per year the draft pick would make.

1) I need to change my Craiglist screen name like ASAP

2) Fokus, I wish you no harm dude. I hope you find peace and contentment in life. Your screed was certainly more than a little creepy.

3) I Love Nico Batum!

That's still the same as they're paying Smith, so they aren't adding to their tax burden. And they would have both of them locked up for 4 seasons, unlike Smith who's deal is up in a couple years.

If they really want to save money, I might be willing to do Lewis+3 for Smith+Marvin. But again - we'd have to be sure we could still move Blatche in another deal.

Is there any chance that Irving is better than Wall? I feel like Atl wouldn't be willing to give up Smith, a cornerstone of their team, unless it's for the star PG that has been eluding them since Mookie Blalock.
That said, Smith is as close to the antidote that this team needs in that he plays D and provides athleticism and an attack-the-rim mentality at the 4. Only thing he lacks is beefiness and low post moves.

I have wondered about this. I think Wall's cieling of potential is higher just based on his physical and athletic attributes.

Plus if we did land Irving, Wall has already been ingrained as our saviour and future superstar. It would be a tough sell to the fans to get rid of a guy with one year under his belt and replace him with an inexperienced rookie who may or may not be any better. Also i just ordered a jersey so ill be damned if i have to fork out for a new one...

In a situation like this (getting a #1 pick who is pretty much a duplicate) it is wise to trade down and shed bad contracts, or pick up a bonus talent.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Here's a 3-way based on my ATL idea above:

Wizards trade: Lewis, Blatche, McGee, and ATL pick
Wizards receive: J.Smith, Marvin, Bell, and Biedrins

Warriors trade: Biedrins, Bell, and 2011 first
Warriors receive: Blatche and ATL pick

Hawks trade: J.Smith and Marvin
Hawks receive: Lewis, McGee, and GSW pick

TRADE ID 5869357

This deal depends on two things: 1)GSW potentially wanting to get into the mix for FAs this summer and 2)ATL wanting to go with a bigger lineup, possibly after flaming out in the playoffs again.

We upgrade our frontcourt without giving up our lotto pick. We take on salary to do it, but we can still get a wing with serious upside.

Biedrins/Seraphin
J.Smith/Booker
Marvin/P.Jones(?) - at least to start the season
Young/Crawford
Wall/Bell

If we're all agreed that Dwight Howard is a pipe dream, that's a pretty nice Plan B IMO. Still a little short on scoring while Jones (or whoever) is developing, but I think it'll be worth the wait.

We are not ready to trade for a really good player like Josh Smith. Follow the OKC Thunder model and hope you draft your Westbrook level talent in this draft. Save the cap space and look for more BOYD deals.

Yep, I'd do it. Xavier is perfect to come in behind Nick or even next to him playing the 3.

Memphis may pull the trigger, they do get a backup C project. They may be more interested in moving Mayo though, and I think they may want more in the pot.

Honestly, I'd trade McGee for Vazquez. Vazquez at least plays with passion and fire. He won't play like a moron on the court.

Nah. McGee has more value than this. So far, Henry hasn't proven to be even a rotation-caliber player yet. McGee still has star-caliber upside at a difficult to fill position.
