To be fair, that's 8 games as a 12 minute per game backup. And 7 of those 8 games were double digit blowouts so the amount of garbage time may have been substantial. He has a sample size of just 101 minutes, all as a bench player.
I'm not hating. Just pointing out that those numbers don't mean all that much yet.
I think what it means - along with the G League stats - that he belongs in the NBA. Obviously, nobody's saying he's going to continue at a 24.2 PER pace with a 60% TS%.
Maker was the classic type of person that the draft over values. Over 7 feet tall.Ruzious wrote:Bucks have tried Plumlees, and now they're trying a Zeller. Unfortunately, it's Tyler instead of Cody, but Tyler's still a usefull player having an excellent shooting tough for a 7 footer and runs the court well. And he's re-united with John Henson - who he played with 2 or 3 years at UNC. They will now share the center position. Thon Maker just wasn't working out as the backup center. People seriously overrated him.
The NBA loves retreads and they love familiar names and they prefer black players to guys like Sato.nate33 wrote:gravytrain24 wrote:Cavs are really trying to get Jordan, looking for a 3rd team. I like Shumpert, but we already have a better version of him in Sato.
It doesn't really matter anyway. Typically, when teams are looking for a third team, they're looking for someone to absorb salary. We are unable to do so.
If LA does trade Jordan to Cleveland, I would certainly be on the phone trying to see what they would give us in return for Gortat, or to see what it would take for us to dump Mahinmi on them.
Now centers must shoot 3-pointers.nate33 wrote:queridiculo wrote:gravytrain24 wrote:Cavs are really trying to get Jordan, looking for a 3rd team. Really curious how talks with Cleveland could possibly gain traction when you consider that they're not willing to send the Brooklyn pick.
What can they possibly send along with their low first rounder that's better than our offer of Oubre and Gortat to make this happen?
(assuming that that rumor is even true)
I seriously doubt that we are willing to send Oubre and Gortat for Jordan.
Frankly, I think the market for Jordan simply isn't that hot. Nobody has any money and they don't want to pay a kajillion dollars for a center who can't be on the floor in crunch time.
It is hard to watch other teams make such free and easy moves.payitforward wrote:Bulls got Willie Reed for the corpse of Jameer Nelson.
I'd have been very happy to acquire Willie Reed for Frazier!
Danny Ainge traded that guy when he hurt his hip.dlts20 wrote:There is no one on realgm happier than me right now. I truly value IT way more than anyone on the site does right now. I can't believe how everyone is judging him without even giving him a chance to get his game back. When he was traded for Kyrie, I said that I no longer have any worries about beating Boston but I always thought we could beat the Cavs and now I don't.
I just think that him being his size and a lefty was too much for Wall and Brooks low in to figure out. We would never be able to guard him. Now I literally have no fear about Wall VS anyone else and we match up well with everyone when on our game.
I just think when used right, being a lefty is a huge advantage. Harden is awesome and I wanted us to draft him but he wouldn't be as deadly if he were orthodox. That is another reason why I liked us drafting Oubre and I didn't want to match Porter.
IT may have a hip that ended his career but if he is just rusty then the Cavs made a huge mistake

The knee jerk, copycat league is known as the NBA
Since DeAndre Jordan doesn't fit the mold of a Draymond Green they don't want him
His contract is large for a not multi-faceted player

Both of their big trades were asymmetrical. They got the best players, the most value and critical youth in both trades.... and they held on to their highest draft pick.
Seems rigged.

I think they got good value, but I don't buy the notion that these trades were asymmetrical.
The Lakers trade is about even and one could argue it's a bit of an overpay from the Cavs perspective. The Lakers have been looking to shed Clarkson's contract in a salary dump for quite some time and considering that they've got a FRP in return for those cap savings I'd say they came out ahead.
Typically you'd expect a team would have to surrender a pick to clear that kind of salary.
The Utah trade is another one where I feel both teams got good value.
The Jazz weren't going to bring Hood back given how well Mitchell has worked out for them and for them to be able to turn that expiring deal into starting small forward on a bargain deal is probably as good an outcome as they could have hoped for.
Sacramento got rid of a player that doesn't fit the direction of the franchise and that was being paid a ton of money.
Everybody wins in those trades.

He is a much better coach than Scott Brooks IMO, but he must not rub people the right way behind closed doors. Whoever the general manager and the owner are do not have confidence in the guy.youngWizzy wrote:Tough to see Vogel be fired. Had a great year with Indiana that one season. Orlando did stuff with Elfrid Peyton and they had trades. I don't think their losses were on this coach.
He beat Washington for his last game!
