As part of the LeBJ's Really a Great Guy campaign, he'll come to DC, win a championship, and make up for all the times he stomped the Wizards in the playoffs. We'll all become BeLeBJers.
I do seem to recall Leb wearing a throwback Wes Unseld jersey before his rookie year.
Nice move by Indiana trading George Hill for Jeff Teague. They finally have a true PG - which should help George and his teammates. And Teague's younger than Hill. Hill is almost certainly on the downhill side of his career. I know Atl wanted to get their younger PG in the starting lineup, but Teague has developed into simply a better all-around player, imo.
It's looking like Atl is going into rebuild mode and expecting Horford to leave. Hmmm, maybe Millsap is available.

For NY, this feels like a deal an incoming GM would do to clear the cap of players he inherited. But Phil is trading guys he himself just acquired. LOL
I would guess they want to make a splash this summer, so I'm predicting Dwight-to-NY now.
Howard
Porzingis
Melo
FA
Rose
Actually not bad on paper, and they can still be active next summer when Rose is a FA.

Getting Howard makes the deal for Rose make a lot more sense. If they strike out on Howard, plan B could pretty ugly. Even if they get Howard it will be tough for them to build depth.
Actually, I think signing Howard makes things pretty ugly. I can just imagine Howard's laissez faire personality rubbing off well on Knicks fans after a slow start. Or Rose bristling at the media over his unwillingness to drive to the rim.
A Rose/Howard tandem in NY is a laugh track waiting to happen. Both are well known, over priced & highly overrated. If folks think Howard is still an elite defender... it's time to update your scouting report. He's nowhere close to the guy he was prior to his back surgery.
I'm not sure the Knicks even make the playoffs with those two. I honestly think Rose is the real reason why Chicago didn't make the playoffs.

I think more casual fans will watch a 38-win Knicks team with Carmelo, Rose and Howard than a 43-win Knicks team built through draft and FA and led by Porzingis. Maybe there was a tacit agreement with Jackson to follow such a strategy, or maybe he's just doubling down on a likely loser game. They were lucky to have gotten Porzingis, but they don't seem at all interested in additional young assets.

The Brooklyn Nets have traded Thaddeus Young to the Indiana Pacers for the 20th overall pick and a future second rounder.
The Nets re-signed Young last offseason on a four-year, $50 million deal.
The Pacers previously acquired Jeff Teague this week.
Indiana parted ways with Frank Vogel this offseason and elevated Nate McMillan to head coach. The Pacers now project to have a starting five of Teague, Monta Ellis, Paul George, Young and Myles Turner.

Utah does have enough young talent that is developing, so they aren't completely in bad shape. One thing that could have made the move better would have been getting the 44 pick from ATL in the deal. Seems like a great spot to get a draft and stash foreign player.
I think what Indy did was pretty slick - dealing a player like to leave and/or decline for one that fits in with Paul George's window.payitforward wrote:Ruzious wrote:I do seem to recall Leb wearing a throwback Wes Unseld jersey before his rookie year.

pcbothwel wrote:The trade sucked, unless you view Lopez as simply average and limited, as well as viewing Rose as anything more than an expiring former Star that has a name and could be a C+ to B PG. That said, he will help put butts in the seats and The Knicks are really set up for the 2017 FA Class. They now have Melo, Porzingis, and O'Quinn and about 70M in capspace.
Even if they sign Dwight (bad signing), they still would have enough to get one of CP3, Westbrook, KD, Hayward, etc.

Hill will help them for 1 year, and then I guess they'll plan on Exum being ready the year after, but Exum was so bad as a rookie that I'm not sure when he'll be ready. I give Utah a C- at best on that trade.

I think Utah will be top 5 in the West next year and will resign him.

You could be right. They have some very talented front court players.

I heard ESPN *cough* expert... Michael Wilbon talk about the trade. He was surprised NY got him for so little...
