CCJ, you hanging out on the Knicks board?

Over-the-top pronouncements on the boards are one of the most entertaining parts of reading threads. "Helen Keller has better court vision," etc.

Years ago, Manute Bol was on a call in show, and some obnoxious caller was ranting (to Bol and the host) about Bol's lack of skills, repeatedly insisting that he should be driving a cab. Bol seemed to read the pronouncement literally, and sounded sincere in his reply, "Why would I drive a cab? I am paid to play the game of basketball." Maybe he was being sly but whatever, the contrast between Bol and the wound-to-tight caller was hilarious.

monte, I never had a problem with you until I posted what I did about homosexuality on the politics board. Your brother is no more LBGT than my daughter. I thought I was tactful but I meant every word of it.

I posted on the Knicks board during the Wizards game thread and during the post game. If you want to talk about me getting my facts right, you can find the posts which say verbatim what I said.

But if you want to pile on like AFM, I have some for you, too.

At this point what I will say is my opinion is mine. I can be as wrong as the next guy but I will be damned if I treat someone wrong for what they believe. I don't pile on but I do handle my business.

John Wall is a guy who is up and down. He is extremely good in some styles of play and frustrating in others. He represents to me the best opportunity to uplift the franchise in one way or another. The guy is worth A LOT because some are convinced he is a superstar.

As for what I post on other boards, I will keep doing that and I will post here for the time being.

12 years here and I don't disrespect people but if you don't like my posts just put me on ignore.

CCJ, what are you talking about? I don't have a problem with you. I love your posts. I was just kidding above (as I know AFM was as well). Obviously, it came out wrong. Sorry for that.

Re the LGBT stuff, I have disagreements on the issue in my own family. It's not a make or break thing, just a point of discussion. Peace.

Coolest person (at least since Ace Degenerate was banned) would be maybe Ed Wood or doclinkin or dobrojim or Dat2U, but thanks for the compliment.

Take two aspirin, watch the game, post in the morning.

Hey, CCJ!
They say your jivin' game, it can't be changed
But on the positive side,
You're my piece of the rock
And I love you, CCJ.
Can you dig it?

jim is laid back, cool chillin', too. And on top of that he runs marathons and plays in a band. jim is in another dimension, monte. He's like yoda as far as I'm concerned.

As far as the game goes, older son has homework due. Don't want to go across the island and leave him and younger brother. I'm gonna have to sit this out. I am sleepy any way.

(Guarantees a great game I will wish I saw. Oh well.)

Relax, AFM. I apologize for being … well … volatile. I just thought wrong about the post….

My kids know I can't stay mad. :D

Unfortunately, my ex-wife has made a living knowing I can't stay mad.

AFM, you were kidding and I was probably so stressed I shouldn't have been on the board. Sorry. I apologize.

I'm good. This is long forgotten, AFM. I thought I was being misquoted. I say a lot about John Wall but I would never call him a fraud. Wall seems to try really hard. He plays his best. I feel a lot about John's effort the same way as I do about Jan Vesely's or Javale McGee's. They are players who seem to give you what they can and they always play hard.

What more can you really ask of anyone? They are genuinely giving their all. Not frauds.

I also thought there was a perception I was knocking Wall on the Knicks' board. I said I didn't think he was top-5, and agreed with 30 other players better. I also went over teams successfully daring him to shoot. I said a shot he made late was a bad omen for the Knicks. But I never called John a fraud.

He plays hard.

Et tu, Miller?

No, I apologize CCJ. I thought the quote was so ridiculous I tried to make light of it by saying it was something you might say. I probably should have used green text. Let's forget about it.

Believe it or not, on the whole island of Oahu I am polarizing for what I say on the radio call in about a local coach. Some hate me. Some agree. It is kind of uncomfortable but I have to get used to it.

This island has people who support a coach and others who don't. It is a very divisive topic. Football signing day stuff.

I'm a Terp fan, but the local team is stuff that really can get heated ...

CCJ, I had no idea you lived in Oahu (I knew you lived in Hawaii but not specifically Oahu). That's where they shot my favorite TV show of all time -- LOST. Such a beautiful place.

miller, this is something you probably will enjoy. Many of the scenes from the show are popular parts of the island.

Lost filming takes place at numerous locations, most of which are easily located and accessible to the public for free. Other locations will require that you participate in paid attraction that ventures into the area where filming occurred.

The areas are all over the island and you will see them on a lot of different shows or movies filmed locally. This is my favorite one and the most popular. When you go to the windward side of the island on H3, this is one of the views you get. It really is beautiful on a sunny day or when there is a rainbow overhead.

Chocolate City Jordanaire wrote:Wall is a third-year, #1 overall pick who has been coached for years by Sam Cassell and before him Flip Saunders. He has played with Gilbert Arenas and Kirk Hinrich. In his first two years, Wall's PER was 15.8 and 17.7. This season so far, his PER is 17.1. This season, Wall has no knucklehead teammates, and he has veteran big men with size, veteran wings with size, and players who started last season deep on the bench. Wall has had time to improve.

Damien Lillard is coached by first-year coach, Terry Stotts. Outside of LaMarcus Aldridge, Wesley Matthews, and Nicolas Batum (himself relatively unproven); Lillard is the leader of his team. Lillard's PER is 16.4, slightly better than Wall's first season. Portland is 25-24 with Lillard leading the way.

So what exactly are you saying here? That Wall is playing with better teammates and a better coaching staff? I hope you're not really trying to make that point, because we all know that's a flat out lie. Aldridge alone is much better than anyone Wall has the benefit of playing with. So is Matthews and Batum. Heck, even JJ Hickson has played better than anyone on the Wizards this season. So to even suggest that Wall plays with an equal cast is just being ridiculous. As for coaching, Wall has had two different ones, none of which were good...I don't see why you even brought that up because it doesn't advance your argument any sort of way.

And Aldridge leads that team, not Lilliard. Lilliard gets the benefit of playing with an all-star big man...Wall doesn't.

Okay. You want some, too. Fine. How much do I value PER, TGW?

http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... ada01.html
http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... ljo01.html

Wall's first season the Wizards were 23-59. Wall's next season the Wizards were 20-46, with Flip getting fired. That usually does not happen to the coach of the team that gets the #1 overall pick.

I love how you pick and choose stats, numbers, records, or anything that basically helps you make a point, all the while ignoring that same exact stat when it doesn't serve your purpose. You were all about PER in another thread involving Cousins, talking about Cousins superior PER, yet ignoring his terrible TS% and efg% that you use against Wall all the time. Not only that, you've NEVER mentioned just how terrible the Kings are with Cousins leading the way. 24-58, 22-44 with Westphal getting fired, and now 17-33. How is that possible, when Cousins, according to you is the most talented big man in the NBA? :eek1:

I guess when you have the benefit of picking and choosing what you use to prove a point, everyone is right 100% of the time.

TGW, the stat I care about more than PER is WS/48. Win score per 48 minutes for Wall is .057. Win score per 48 for Lillard is .098.

Win score for Jose Calderon is .150. Win score for Goran Dragic is .118. Win score for Mario Chalmers is .122—would you take these 3 over Lillard as well?

Lillard is a much better outside shooter than John Wall. Is he better? TGW, I would say right now he is definitely having a better rookie season than Wall, and he probably IS better.

LIllard has made 111 3PT shots this season. John made 3 all year last year and 1 this year.

John gets to the basket and he has superior court vision that gives him more assists.

Damian Lillard actually knows how to shoot and he is just a rookie, though he's the same age as John Wall.

Lillard is having a good season. And yes, he does shoot better than Wall. Wall has significant issues with his game...with that being said, you hold Wall to standards that you hold no one else to, because of obvious bias. This is blatantly apparent, especially when you come in threads propping Demarcus Cousins on a pedestal that he doesn't deserve to be on. You will make 1,243,430 excuses for Cousins when he plays like crap or does something idiotic, but you NEVER extend the same cortesy to wall. You are super-biased and I will continue to call you out on it.

TGW, Wall was the #1 pick overall and the reason I post what I do is I frequently conceive of trades that MIGHT improve the franchise. Wall is the only #1 pick of the Wizards since Kwame Brown, and if you had been around back then you would know I said trade the rights to Brown for Battier and Zach Randolph or Troy Murphy. Long time ago I dealt with people telling me no way Carlos Boozer would be better than Kwame.

You get worked over what I post and you come at me with snarky stuff. I never said Lillard was better but you said PER is what I value. First of all, you assumed that. Wages of Win put out something I like even better than WS per 48, but they did away with it. There are at least a couple things I like better than PER. On/off court differential matters a lot, too. A lot of intangibles matter as well.

As for all Lillard, I gave you a detailed, straight answer.

What you did was attack and say I'm going to be right 100% of the time.

What I will do from now on is give you a whole lot less.

You can put me on ignore.
