Hey, if it is the difference between no Durant and Durant, fully worthy

I have no expectation of signing Durant. Brooks will be worth it to me simply if he can get Beal and Porter to reach their potential here.

I like Brooks. He got way too much flak for his perceived shortcomings, but I thought/still do think he is a solid coach. Great addition!

Great hire. Player development is the priority over scheme at this point.

Ted will have to get run out of town before he ever eats such a large contract too. Ernie won't be favored over Brooks the next time he's shamed into firing someone.

Guess I'll reserve judgement until I see what he does. Not enthusiastic but cautiously optimistic.

EFG had to get this done quickly so he could get back to whatever is more important to him.

I think Brooks holds Ernie's fate in his hands this season. If he bombs and the team doesn't improve, then I think it'll be Ernie that gets the axe this time. It depends on the guarantees in Brooks's contract, but with how much money he's getting, I think he'll have the safest HC job in the NBA for the next five years.

But is Otto Porter a big believer in the potential of Otto Porter?

I wish I was making this up, but...

Spoiler:
Bad luck.

That's the summary version, anyway.

Did Ted break a mirror? That would be 7 years of bad luck, so just one more to go for this rebuild. Then we'll really be rolling.

Put that coffee down, Ernie.

OK, fine, go ahead and drink it. It's for closers.

Aldridge already reported that all five years are guaranteed. So, if things go south enough to merit a shakeup, Ted would either have to fire both EG and Brooks (and eat the rest of Brooks' sizable contract), or fire EG and hope that the next GM is fine with keeping Brooks -- who, in this scenario, would be coaching a team that isn't performing to expectations. The latter is is a dicey proposition, and would affect Ted's ability to recruit a topflight GM replacement.

The length and size of Brooks' contract gives EG more security, not less.

Since this is the Wizards, we can expect the #SoWizards scenario.

As uninspiring a hiring as you would expect from Leonsis and Grunfeld.

Can't wait to hear these two pat themselves on their shoulders for landing a coach with such pedigree.

Scott Brooks should provide plenty of dick punches if he isn't.

Could always be worse. Team could have hired Mo Cheeks to be head coach, now he'll only be an assistant here.

Damn, I genuinely feel bad that you're on the Wizards board in the middle of a Raptors playoff game.
