3-way tie for 5th.

I know Philadelphia has an advantage on us, on account of them currently winning the season series (though we meet up once more with them). But I believe we are either tied or have a 1gm lead on the Raptors, regarding the season series. Actually, I think we lead 2-1.

Sessions, Ivey, and Simmons came in and gangstered a win.

Bogut and Villanueva owned the inside all game.

Looking at the box this isn't even a game the Wizards deserved to win. The lead was slipping away and at no time was there a consistent effort by the Wizards on defense.

This loss was deserved.

I think Young and Mason would have matched Ivey if they'd gotten a chance to. I believe Blatche would have scored more right when he got subbed out and the Wizards stopped scoring.

But this loss was earned.

Actually, we won the series 3-1 against Toronto. I think NBA.com has an error though because they still have the Wiz at 5th seed. Do not expect it to last, Philly's going to take it.

Absolutely.

And to piggyback on one of Nate's previous posts, this team needs to start playing defense immediately.

They can't use the ol' "we just aren't a good defensive team" excuse anymore. We've shown that, when we want to be (ie: against the Celtics and numerous other teams earlier in the season), we can be a very good defensive team.

It takes 3 main things....

1. Understanding what fundamentally sound defense is
2. Actually wanting to play defense (ie: effort and tenacity)
3. Having the right players on the floor in the right spots

What separates the average defensive teams from the good ones is that the average defensive teams will play excellent defense every once in a while (maybe against teams they get pumped up to play), whereas the good defensive teams consistently play excellent defense, whether they're playing the Bucks or the Celtics.

Sure, maybe when a good defensive team is playing a team like Milwaukee, there might be a few more "lapses" than usual, but at the end of the day, the total defensive production is going to be positive.

Wow, if we're that bad, it shouldn't have been a problem for the Celtics to pick up 2 wins on us, then.

I agree.

But guess what? He's still tall and highly skilled.

I don't care if he's got rocks for brains he's a better defender than Jamison. I think he'll give the team some interior passing and finishes when open that they don't get.

The Wizards IMO will be better with Blatche and Haywood at PF and C now that Gilbert is back.

Blatche played his best basketball of the season (heck, of his career) starting next to Haywood. The problem is that he's our biggest healthy reserve so he has to play the middle. But if the Wiz can get a reliable backup center for next season (not Etan) and Blatche is the full time backup PF, I think you'll see more consistent play.

LR, I think it's time for a lineup change.

Washington can start up Gilbert, Roger, Caron, Andray and Brendan.

I think both DeShawn and Antawn are going to miss games. Both might miss several games.

The bench can be AD, Nick, Darius, and Dominic.

That's it. Get it done. Period.

No excuses.

Warning: Extreme venting coming down the pike....

Putrid defense throughout. Complete suck on the D glass. Steve Javie - destroyer of basketball games, No energy, no hustle, can't bother themselves to battle for a loose ball here and there, totally casual, no Haywood for the critical stretch of the 4th when the lead evaporated.

blah, blah, blah... I'm going to go kick the cat and try to get some sleep.

How did we lose that game? Luckily, it wasn't nationally televised, or I would have thrown my TV out the window.
First the federal government borrowed money; then gave the money to Bank of America; then I borrowed some of that money from Bank of America and gave it to the federal government; then the federal government gave the money back to Bank of America.

No kidding. That was an EXTREMELY generous 1.1 seconds our homecourt timekeeper gave them.

Is 1.1 even enough to catch, decide to pass, have the ball travel 8 ft, and a guy goes up with a smooth complete J [not some awkward heave]. Seems like a lot for one measly second and a tenth, no?

no haywood in a critical part of the 4th had nothing to do with this loss. brendan pulled one of his classic "i'm going to do some nice stuff in the first quarter and be lazy as $hit the rest of the game" outings. i like wood, but it's the truth.

Injury Update on Stevenson, Jamison
April 2nd, 2008 by SportzWiz
Quick update on those two guys who left the game late. Stevenson has a sprained right ankle. When asked about the injury he said he was going to ice it down and he hopes to be ready for Friday. As for Jamison, he has a sprained right shoulder. He was not available to the media. We will have more information regarding the injuries tomorrow.

I was wondering the same thing.

I actually thought that Gil made the right move to leave Sessions and try to crowd Bogut, because I didn't think it was possible to get a shot off with 1.1 on the clock from someone other than the initial recipient of the inbound pass.

That was some loosey **** goosey bull defense Eddie Jordan let the team get away with the entire game. Not a single timeout down the stretch, no adjustments all game. Pretty darn pityful.

Then again, I half expected precisely that kind of outcome from the getgo. Ridiculous.

Doesn't change anything about the fact that the clock was way too **** slow. How on earth does that happen at home?

P'Oed wrote:we just can't let Arenas come back and think he can run the show. I'd give more authority to Nick Young at this point. Gil had nothing to do with our record this year. Treat him like a Ben Gordon kind of bench player and go with what has been working all year long: Butler and Jamison are your go to guys who get others involved. I almost feel like Butler and Jamison were disrespected tonight and they have every right to be pissed off and neglected.

and it never shouldve even came down to that final shot. YOu guys are focusing on who was in on the final shot and what not, that doesnt matter. You put a team like the Bucks away when you're up 10 in the 4th quarter. Don't start playing one on one defense and jacking stuff up. Get to the line and increase the lead.

eerrrrrggggg Whatever...

I'm not going to judge to much by just one game but that was strange to watch.

I didn't even recognize that team out there tonight. Sure we scored a lot of points early but the tempo was way up and there were lots of sloppy passes. I remember when the 2nd quarter started I was like, aahhh, there is our offense.

Having GA back changed a lot for this team. I just hope we don't throw away all the things we learned while he was out. And we were way lucky to even have it that close. The shot before last for MIL the guy was wide open from 15ft. No one was even near him. Our D sucked. We were not balanced and they got several easy baskets. Pts differential wins game, not lots of pts

So much for GA learning something watching us all year and him coming back as a passer. 2 assists and 4 turnovers in 20 mins wasn't getting it done.

We really needed this win and sad to say, we probably would have won if GA didn't play but I guess we have to live throw the integration because we will need his talent come playoffs.

Hopefully he rethinks his game. He changed the game from what everyone was comfortable with to what he is comfortable with.

We had 16 turnover and play no D in a fast tempo game. I would have been nice if he just brought his talent to the style we have played all year and slowly allowed the team to adjust.

But it was nice to see him on the court again.

EJ did well sharing the minutes but like it was said, GA had no business being out there for the last defensive play. He blow it leaving his man to take a step toward the whole.
