Most GMs lie their asses off, especially in a pre-draft press conference. I would take everything with a grain of salt, save for the comment about moving into the second round, since that appears to be a trend.

One or both of those guys (Brad/Russ) will be traded this season.

Wouldn’t shock me at all if it is sooner than later. The key phrase is if it will help the team. Tommy Shepherd is going to do what helps the team and his is a very fluid process of evaluation.

It's not as simple as black-and-white. My guess is that Wes Jr. does not want Westbrook on his team. Ted wanted Wall of his team, but with Russ, he knows they have somebody that people on social media talk about, even if the team is just meh. I know he loves Beal. So trading any of those stars will need an ok from the big dog first. Then you have to figure out what the new coach wants to do and of course, if Beal is going to sign an extension here. Personally, I'd trade both and start all over with youngsters or do a Simmons deal with Beal and get rid of Westbrook somehow.

If you have time check out the second round of the 2012 draft, pif.

I read your above and as I did I compared and contrasted picks 27-30 or later with the top 3.

There have been some terrific players drafted 27, 30, 41 (Jokic and Connaughton) and even later. Too much for me to articulate clearly other than to say I’m convinced that given second round picks one has a better than 50% chance of selecting at least a replacement level player.

In a few years this second round is going to resemble 2012.

I guess the question is, how far up do they have to move to trade the picks?

I think Ingles is a much better player than Kuzma and can't see Utah doing that just to move from 30 to 22. Guessing Lebron would love that trade to happen.

If NY would indeed be willing to trade up - I guess there would be two questions. 1) What would the minimum pick need to be? 2) Would anyone above 15 offer for 19 & 21.

To that end, I think Houston would be the most likely trade down candidate for us. 15 for 23&24. Then on the side Wood for Bryant and changing the protection on the '23 pick. I think Houston goes for that - a chance to move up in this years draft and in '23. Plus, Wood doesn't really fit their timeline. On our side, we pickup Wood allowing us to go with Gafford/Wood/Rui up front and to pickup two additions to the roster. We then have Bertans and Avidja at the backup F spots and can draft two guards.

I think so would Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert.

Kuzma went to Utah in college. He’s much younger than Ingles. His numbers have been suppressed two years, since Lebron/AD.

I think Kuzma is definitely capable of improving markedly. He is a tough kid from Flint, Michigan. He has been the ultimate team player and making a sacrifice.

That deal is good for both teams, I think.

Kuzma always struck me as a whiner who seemed to think he was a lot better than he really was - and should have thanked the basketball gods to allow him to play on the same teams as Lebron and AD.

For sure! I'm totally familiar with that draft! Sato, Crowder, Draymond, Middleton, & Will Barton -- not to mention Kyle O'Quinn, Mike Scott, Jeff Taylor, Quincy Acy (who had a few pretty useful years) & Darius Miller (he's still in the league).

Compare those guys to, for example, Thomas Robinson -- the #5 pick that year! Or Dion Waiters (#4) -- or, for that matter, with Austin Rivers, Kendall Marshall, John Henson, Royce White, Terrence Jones, Andrew Nicholson, Jared Sullinger, Fab Melo, John Jenkins, Jared Cunningham, Tony Wroten, Arnett Moultrie, Perry Jones, Marquis Teague, & Festus Ezeli. All R1 picks that year!

Tons more than that too! Jordan Clarkson, Dwight Powell, Hamidou Diallo, Jarred Vanderbilt, DeAnthony Melton, Shake Milton, Mitchell Robinson.... Off the top of my head.

I would pull the trigger on that in a heart beat

Bertans and 15 and cash
For
19,21, and 32.

They get a good bench wing/4 to really boost that shooting. And move up to get their guy at 15. Taking bertans helps that team a ton and leaves them with still a max slot plus.

Final list coming tonight. I underestimated how deep the middle of this draft is.

there is no doubt that trading back from 15 to 19&21 is the correct move.

I didn’t say he was not. Of course he’s not as good as he thinks he is. I believe he was a lot more humble before LeBron.

Precisely!

The second round was better than the first in my opinion.

I would rather have four second round picks than two or possibly three non-top-3 firsts in this draft.

I consider the middle to be picks 26-50. There is going to be somebody picked really late in this draft that turns out to be a stud.

Funny you should mention Joe Ingles. Jock Landale thanks that Joe Ingles is a prick. It’s on YouTube. Landale is a better player than Ingles is what JL expressed. One guy on the outside looking in thinks he also should be in the NBA.

Just heard that …

Landale is my new Morris Almond. If you see him on the Wizard roster do thank me, later! (6-0 record and his two ten day deals is all I recall lol)
