I mean really, wtf was Pelinka thinking?

I just can't imagine this is going to work out.

If Lebron can drag this group into western conference relevance he might just be the GOAT.

Why? Their window - with arguably the greatest PG in NBA history - is only a few years, and Kuminga will likely be ordinary at best... in that period. I don't think he'll contribute a whole lot during his rookie contract.

Too bad he's not playing yet, so we can't showcase him for trade opportunities. I agree that GSW can contend for a title. If they think someone like Bryant could help, then we should be able to pry away some of their young prospects like Kuminga.
The Wizards need to go ahead and give up Bradley Beal along with Thomas Bryant.

Why?

To get back something like Thompson, Kuminga, Wiseman and a couple of first round picks.

Might be able to throw in Bertans.

Not sure those are players I'd be going after from GS. An underrated player I really like on GS is Jordan Poole - a very athletic 22 year old 6'5 guard with legit scoring skills, imo.
Never mind what I posted.

Davis bertans had a really nice touch pass in the lane against TOR....I believe to kuzma.. no it was 2 Hrail for a dunk

This team is going to be so good that I believe Davis is going to have a 30 or 40 point game and teams are not going to know what to do with him.

Closg00, thanks for pointing out two surprising outcomes.

[NBA] DAL @ ATL, Final : 87 : 113
https://www.thescore.com/nba/events/2390549

[NBA] MIL @ MIA, Final : 95 : 137
https://www.thescore.com/nba/events/2390550

The Bucks were without Jrue Holiday, and Khris Middleton was awful.

The Hawks are loaded. Reddish is a beast. Hunter is healthy. I think it will be them and the Golden State Warriors in the championship this year and they will win

Toronto just beat the crap out of Boston 115-83, making our win in Toronto look even better.

I'm not sure why there is so much buzz about a resurgence in Boston. The essentially have traded Kemba for Schroeder, Theus + Thompson for Horford, and a quarter-season of Evan Fournier for Josh Richardson. And they lost one of the better coaches in the league.

Would they consider trading Tatum if things spiral downwards? Brown seems like the more likely to go than him, but I like his game (he's also much more unselfish). They could get a ton for Tatum if they decided to bail and do a mini-rebuild.

They have a great foundation with Tatum and Brown, and they're both young. They need to build a better team around them, not trade them. If a trade is to be made, they will package youth and assets for a 3rd star.

Boston looks really bad. It's definitely fixable but I'm not sure that will happen this season. Tatum and Brown are really good. Williams is solid. Smart isn't a PG but he's a decent defensive guard who can hit some 3s and move the ball. There's a lot of pressure on their top guys though because their bench is rather bad. If teams push their effort, they run out of steam a bit. And both the Knicks and Raptors are high compete level teams.

The Wizards are loaded with rotation quality depth so they have fresh legs all the time and can really push other teams' endurance. The Wiz look poised to thrive a bit this season if they can keep their effort levels up.

They don't really have the assets though. Smart is who he is. Pritchard and Nesmith are ok young guys, but they are not guys a trading team wants to start their rebuild (don't have the potential to be stars). Williams is their best asset, but they don't have anything else behind him as a big.

Like, I think Cleveland says no first in a hypothetical Mobely+filler for Tatum package. Mobely will be much more valuable in the future than Tatum will be.

If things spiral downward they should keep their guys and grab a star in the lottery. The Raptors did just that adding Barnes - they need Siakam back because VanVleet and Anunoby aren't stars, just quality starters, but they turned things around reasonably fast. If the wheels fall off the Celtics they should lean into it and give their guys days off for hangnails and stuff. Don't strip down to tank, just do it strategically.

A Boston realgm fan laughed at me in some post when I said my cousin wasn't vaccinated. He said something about my cousin needs to write an obituary or something... he added he hoped that Bradley Beal was vaccinated before he became a Celtic

Ive already sent the guy a PM about Tatum becoming a Wizard

I think that with Brad Stevens moving up, the Wizards and Boston are moving in two different directions. Ainge was not their problem and Stevens was a good coach. I think now they're going to have all kinds of issues.

Kemba Walker was injured but also great veteran leader. His absence will affect the Cs.

I think they were already poised to have a few issues even had Ainge stayed. He relied heavily on robbing other teams in trades to stay afloat and I feel like those kinds of bargains are drying up (as Morey is finding out right now). I don't think Udoka is a fine replacement for Stevens but I don't think Stevens is going to fix what's wrong with their team. I'm curious to see if he tanks when things go sour or if he does something else.

Ainge is a good GM, but he has made a few cold-blooded trades with the Celtics summarily dumping guys whom they praised as being Celtic Forever type of guys. I'm talking about Isaiah Thomas, Kemba Walkler, and Gordon Hayward. I think the reputation has finally caught up with Ainge and he can no longer serve as the face of the franchise. Agents know about him, and players know about him, and ultimately, his rep has made it so that he is no longer capable of acquiring the big name free agents. Neither Anthony Davis nor Kevin Durant even took a meeting with Boston, for example.

I could see why they ultimately decided to retire Ainge. The part that's weird is promoting Stevens to GM. I guess he didn't want to coach anymore, but still, it's weird.

I think so too, but I also think the league is catching up with these guys. There aren't so many suckers around that you can reliably rob when you need. It can take years for the opportunity to come along and if you can't manage in the interim, the water heats up around you faster than it used to. The best GMs don't hesitate to take care of their guys and make sure they move them where they will be successful. Riley, Pop, Masai, etc. Those kinds of guys are more timeless.

Pacers beat Miami on a B2B with Turner on the bench early after fouling out. Also, it's interesting that the Pacers are starting Duarte with Lamb coming off the bench.

Good points and thank you for reminding me how cutthroat Danny Ainge has been. He did Thomas real dirty.
