It's fun to talk about. The thought of trading Blatche outright, grabbing another lottery pick, and getting some cap space.

And trading a potential star at number three just to trade away Andray is ridiculous.

Teds not moving the pick. It would fly in the face of him attempting to build via the "OKC Model" (3 top 5 picks in 3 years). For us it would be top 6 but still....

Chad Ford:

And if the Wizards believe they are in danger of losing Beal, don't be surprised if they offer the Bobcats the No. 32 pick to move up one spot. If Beal is off the board, it looks like Harrison Barnes is plan B.

You could give Ernie a $50 stock, turn it into 2 shares of a $10 stock, and he'd say, see now if we have TWO shares.

The more I see of Lillard the more I think his contribution would exceed that of Beal's at least for the first two years. He's a prolific scorer shooting 41% from 3 pt range. He uses both hands well and gets to the basket at will, finishes strong and gets to the ft line a lot.

Play him 25 min. at SG with Wall covering the opposing teams SG. Then play him 12 min. at PG while Wall takes a breather.

Trade down to six and get additional assets or dump Blatch.

Throwing fuel on the fire for those on this board who want us to trade down, it looks as if Sullinger will be available in mid-late first round...

No thanks on Lillard. He's three inches shorter than Beal and three years older....and he's strictly a PG, imo. Lillard may indeed be better than Beal for the first year or two, but the Zards need to think more long term because Beal could very well be a stud SG in 2-3 years...and he'll only be 22 years old.

This.

Not to mention Beal and Wall in the backcourt would be formidable for the next decade. Both are 6'4" or so and can handle most PGs and smaller SG's.

Funny, I've been thinking the same thing. I also like the idea of having Lillard in my back-pocket if Wall doesn't pan-out. Problem is that Lillard is 6-3. OTOH, Lou Willams is 6-1. Lillard looks-like a sure winner to me.

Either Waiters or Rivers should be there at #11.

Nah. We at least have to be getting #6 in return if we trade down w/ you guys.

I'm just not as sold on Beal as some of you guys are. He’s a smart player that I see being a real pro’s pro in the league, but I’m not seeing "star" in him. He doesn’t have an explosive 1st step, isn’t very explosive vertically, and struggled w/ his shot most of the year. While I think he’ll be a better shooter at the next level, I’m worried that he projects mostly as a spot-up shooter. We already have guys like that in Cartier and Money Ma$e. While Beal is a little more versatile than those guys, we need a star. We don’t need a minor upgrade at a position. That’s why I think Drummond should be the pick. Wall/Drummond has a chance of being a dynasty for the next decade if they develop.

I haven't seen many people suggesting we move down if the guy we want (e.g. Beal) is there at #3. If he's not, and e.g. if Portland and we both want MK-G next, we'd take him and arrange a trade that would only execute if the guys we wanted were there at 6 and 11 and Portland took them for us.

Possible to disagree w/ that kind of plan, but it's not ridiculous. People are always absolutely certain in the run up to the draft who is going to be great and who not. But it doesn't turn out that way, does it? Take a look at who you were absolutely certain about a year ago, why don't you? A lot of people were awfully sure about Derrick Williams; a lot of people were awfully sure Kawhi Leonard was rated too high. (yes... we were all absolutely certain and absolutely right about Faried; leave him out)

The draft is always a crap shoot to some degree. There something to be said for spreading risk. All the same, I'd draft Beal at #3. If he's not there, I'd be looking at all options.

thats a terrible trade. Sullinger isnt even invited to the draft

Poor Sullinger. WOuld have been a top-5 pick last year. Hopefully he lands in a great spot and proves the doubters wrong, but in the short term this will cost him a bunch of money.

you will never see a lottery projected pick ever come back to school again because of what happened to Barnes and especially Sullinger.

Not to mention T.Jones and PJ3 who would've been surefire top 10 picks last year.

It's called a lockout. Nobody knew if there was going to be a season.
