In the last 4 he seems to be playing better since Billups called out the team. He's averaging 12.5/6/2.8 with a 59 ts% in less than 24 mpg.

Also he is coming off a 2nd half in OKC where he got 12 points and 6 rebounds in 11 minutes. (he did start the game 0-5 but shot 4-5 in the 2nd half)

He's going to be fine, his numbers are improving he just doesn't have that much latitude to not play well because Grant is basically a guaranteed 35 minutes (as I mentioned, he's gonna get full Kuzma treatment for some baffling reason) a night despite not playing well and Toumani Camara has been another 32 minutes a night despite underwhelming production (Deni beats him in just about every stat except three point shooting despite playing about 7 less minutes a game). So he's getting the new guy treatment for sure.

Now that's not to say Deni can't play better, he hasn't made the most of his opportunities from a shooting perspective. His two point shot just hasn't gone down this season yet, but from what I've seen he's getting many of the same looks as he did last year.

Again, not a perfect or even good start for him, but he's had to adjust to a new roster with a ton of guys trying to prove themselves. He strings a couple more good performances together and his numbers start to get a lot better.

Laughable there's a good contingent on this board trying to write his obituary in 15 games averaging 10/6/3/1/1 while still shooting awful and playing about a minute more per game than his rookie season.

Wiz fans just trying to talk themselves into being happy about being on the other end of a Webber/Richmond trade for once. Or Ben Wallace/Ike Austin trade. Or any of the other ridiculous trades we've been a part of over the years. If and when Deni blows up into an all star, then rub it in our faces then. As long as he keeps putting up Cartier Martin numbers, let us make of the other team before we go back to being sad Wiz fans.
Can't say I do. Who else gonna shoot?

Yeah just watched the highlights from last night. He had 4 blocks to go along 14 and 10. Still criminally underrated on defense given what he does so often on that side of the ball. That one sequence where Sengun went right at him, dipping his shoulder multiple times, and than just swatting the attempt while securing the rebound was a masterclass. He's had a ton of fast break blocks this season, one in this particular game where he snuffed out a 1-3 fast break by himself. Aside from defense, just a complete team player. Love watching him play.

I was reading through that thread, a lot of love for him. Seems like just about everyone there thinks he's part of their young core and people perplexed he's not getting more minutes. As I said, new guy treatment.

I hope he plays well and has a great career. It doesn't impact the Wizards if that happens.

Props for Deni for guarding Sengun. Looks like the DPOY of the year couldn't

Hey guys, about the trade.

I think Deni was traded so Washington won't be "too good" for tanking.
Like every team, Flagg is the goal, and I think the GM thought he would have more chance landing Flagg without Deni on the team, and also, he thought Deni is not enough of a difference maker...

That's my honest take... only time will tell if it was worth it, but it looks like it, even though the rules were changed and the first place can go to a team that doesn't suck as much as Washington.
Would be funny if Flagg ends up in Philly.

They are absolutely swooning over on the Portland's SB Nation board (they like him to here on RealGM, but a quieter board). They realize everything he does as a player and his impact on both ends. Some realize this kid can be an All-Star, all defensive player if given the chance to not have to defer to lesser players because of politics. Even listening to Billups postgame, you get the sense he understand the caliber of player Deni is. He actually said Deni has the green light to do what he wants on the fast break.

The posters over their have half a brain and most realize his slow start was a transition to a new team/system/teammates and that having Grant and Toumani getting a ton of minutes no matter what made the transition even harder.

Receipts coming frontrunning twerps writing him off after having less than a month in. Going to love to listen to the Dawkins fan boy spin.

Really weird that you keep calling everyone on this board "frontrunners". Are you a wizards fan or someone trying to date Deni? Pretty sure he's not interested. But yeah you're right, this guy is gonna be an All Star for sure (maybe if they extend the all star voting to the top 200 players in the league) the only reason he isn't is because of "politics". You sound completely delusional by the way.

Dude stop being a hypocrite. You are amongst the folks a couple weeks who were bumping up this thread bragging, running your mouth about how the trade was a win like 8-9 game in.

You responded to my last post so quickly because you know you were amongst said frontrunners. I certainly didn't call everyone on this board a frontrunners, not even close as there are some really good posters around here, but you certainly came to mind when I used the phrase.

Classic example of being able to dish out but not able to take some ribbing back.

Yeah okay, delusional. Literally WHO is bragging???? Did I trade Deni? Bragging about what? The fact that you think there's some situation here where someone could be a "Frontrunner" shows how crazy you are. Can't outsmart crazy. No sht.

When you respond to this, at least tell me what part of Deni drives you so wild. Is it his eyes? His smile? What is it. I have to know at this point.
