Derrick Rose Plays First Game In 525 Days

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sun Oct 6, 2013 6:52 am

Derrick Rose had 13 points on 5-for-12 shooting, three assists, two steals and four turnovers in 20 minutes in his first game back from tearing his ACL.

Rose went 525 days between games.

"I was able to push the ball the way that I wanted to, put pressure on the defense," he said. "It kind of surprised me that I didn't get winded the whole time I was out there. So I guess I'm steadily building it along the way.''

The number of credential requests rivaled a playoff game.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to the actual numbers because he was rusty, as were his teammates and his opponents. But he showed some good explosiveness out there. He took it straight at Hibbert which I thought showed he had some real confidence out there. The real question is how he holds up when he starts logging big minutes (or if the Bulls staff are going to limit his minutes in the regular season).

Didn't care about the numbers it was the confidence he had in his knee I was most impressed with he attacked the basket without hesitation and his foot speed and leaping ability seemed all back to normal. I didn't see a guy who lost a step or would never be the same again which is what I was mostly concerned about

D. Rose looked rusty as heck. His timing was off, committed some uncharacteristic turnovers...but he was clearly the fastest player on the floor. He got to the rim repeatedly, with relative ease and finished in typical acrobatic fashion. In other words he's back.

I watched the game, I think Rose may have scarred me for life. When I watch him play now, it's like I'm just waiting for his knee to explode. I cringe when he drives to the basket. I know it's mostly just in my head that he is injury prone now. I hope he makes a great comeback but it just looks awkward seeing him play now.

I was one of the people who wanted him to sit out as long as he felt necessary. Many people forgot that he was hurt before the playoffs that year and maybe pushed it a little too hard to get back, causing the major injury.

I have a feeling ESPN, aka Bulls/Rose ****rider network, will somehow manage to put Rose in the top 5 of their silly rankings in spite of his not playing a game in ages. I'm no Lebron fan, but I loved watching him dominate Rose a few years back. How anyone could think Rose is a threat to 'Bron is beyond me. What he has been, to this point in his career, is just a scaled down version of James. Rose has similar explosiveness, but just less strength and worse court vision. His only real chance to rival James is if he significantly improves his shooting.

Except he left after the half..? LOL.

He didn't do anything, the Bulls 3rd stringers were busy whooping the Pacers starters.

Lebron guarded Rose one-on-one and destroyed him.

Um, Rose had a terrible series. And also, this whole business about "Lebron not doing it alone" is hilarious. First of all, all you heard about in 2010-2011 from Bulls fans was how deep their team was -- deeper than the Heat -- with the "bench mob" and all. Yet now when it's convenient, they take shots at Lebron for somehow having a much better supporting cast. And also, seeing as how Rose refuses to recruit stars... it's kind of his own fault then, no?

that would be utter blasphemy if they did. top 5 player means: would derrick rose be one of the first 5 players you would build a team around to win a championship right now? the answer is no. far too many unknowns for rose to be in this elite group. top 5 for the coming season: lebron, durant, melo, cp3, and parker. id have rose in a group with kobe, dwade, d12, and duncan at 6-10. guys with potential for top 5 but a lot of unknowns. just my opinion.

With all this "shutting down" rose still avg 25ppg on a bad ankle. With all this "shutting down" when lebrin was in Cleveland and they played the bulls rose avg 27 ppg. You people don't know basketball you heard some analyst say this and you heat fans ran with it without researching the facts.

The facts is the bulls starting sg avg 4.6ppg Korver was useless boozer and deng was ghost and all the heat did was pack the lanes and take away rose ability to drive to the basket forcing him to take tough shots with no floor spacing if you actually watched what was happening you would know that rose still got where he wanted vs lebron but every time rose would get by bron the heat were able to send help mainly because the heat defense where cherry picking off deng brewer Booz Korver and bogans. He 1 dude he can't do it by himself.

So the heat defense slowed rose not lebron. This is why the very next series Jason terry was eating lebron food because the heat couldn't do the same thing based on Dallas floor spacing with they 3pt shooting. You think terry is a better offensive player than rose?

Based on how you post it's clear you just repeat what you heard someone else say

And I know lebron is your king but take into account he was a flat out failure til his 9th season. Rose was only in his 3rd season and had his team in the ecf quit acting like it was long overdue for rose like it was for lebron. Some may have felt the team was deep but I remember many arguments with bulls fans on us needing another shot creator /2nd option which is why we pitched a fit when we did nothing that trade deadline. Quit acting like lebron with wade and bosh overcame some major obstacle with rose and nobody. And again rose was in his 3rd season.

Lebron was in Cleveland unable to get a team like he got in Miami was that his fault too?

That's the bulls front office fault not rose.
