Geez. You're still on that Perkins-Al ****. How the hell do you see them two playing at the same time on the court!?

I missed the early start on this one. How did the offense work so well in the first half vs. TOR? I've been one of the more anti-Al people. So, I'd like to hear how he did when the offense was effective. Did he set up deeper, make his moves quicker, were shots just falling? Val going for Al's head fakes. (I've see how effective he can be when guarded by 6'9 Baby Davis). Was it just beginners luck effect with Ramon at the point?

I don't understand how you figure Perkins isn't a big that can play with Jefferson, so since you think its such a bad idea, when you give me some type of explanation as to why you DONT think they can be matched together I'll explain why they can and how it's actually a very good idea.

Give me an example of two 7-feet tall 280-pounders playing successfully in today's NBA.

You can't play them together on defense. Today's offenses will pick-n-roll them to death since neither can step out of the paint and keep up with faster offensive players. If the opposing team's four can shoot, they're toast.

Meanwhile, it's not like you have any advantage on offense. If anything, teams can hide their worst defender on Perkins. He basically can make you play 4-on-5 on offense.

Perkins is one of the worst starting Cs in the league. He's comparable to our very own Haywood. Haywood might even be better.

Perkins play at center helped Boston to win a championship. The year after they won and were posed for a repeat run , KG got hurt and Orlando replaced Boston as the team representing the east vs L.A. The year after that, Boston got back to the finals, and Perkins got hurt in game 6, and the result was Boston lost game 7 and L.A won the chip. Boston arguably could've won 3 titles had KG and Perkins not got hurt. KG wasn't the center, Perkins was. Perkins gave Boston the edge inside and the size needed to contend with the huge Laker frontline.

OKC didn't get to the championship until they picked up Perkins to anchor the front court. What was the difference, they needed a defensive presence inside. I've never said Perkins wil get you 20 points, 13 rebounds. I said Perkins is a tough presence inside who can help cover Jeffersons weakness. Perkins or a Perkins type, fills a void and plays a role that can help this team. Lamarmatic said Perkins and Jefferson would struggle vs the pick and role. That's a valid point, but I would say teams don't win chips by picking and rolling. The teams that win chips have size, and this has always been the case. This is why Boston was so dominant a few years ago, why the Lakers were so domiannat with Bynum and Gasol, and Odom at SF, all 3 players about 7 ft tall.

Dallas had Dirk and Chandler, Detroit had Rasheed and Big Ben Wallace. Miami may not have a traditional center, which hurts them vs Indy who only lacked a real superstar or else they'd be champions, but Miami has size everywhere else. You will not win in this league unless your fundamental in your approach. We all know Jefferson is weak defensively, so it should be logical to get a big, tough, defender to help him. Maybe Perkins isn't the guy, but the premise that you need to match a weak big man, with a finesse big man makes little sense to me. This isn't Euro league play, (even though the league is trying to make it that) the big man position is being redefined, but the good teams know you need to have a true big to compete. Look at Portland, Aldridge and Lopez, Minnesota, Love and Pekovic. Spurs with Duncan and Splitter, Indy with Hibbert and West.

Miami only gets away with this because they are loaded with 3 of the top 10-15 players in the league, they are essentially a super team, but even still, which teams give the Heat trouble, teams with perimeter oriented finesse stretch 4's, or teams with height size and muscle?

Sounds like every reason to play Bismack Biyombo more than trade for the horrid contract that's owed to the corpse of Kendrick Perkins' career since he tore his ACL in 2010

There's a reason why the Celtics traded Perkins almost immediately after returning from his torn ACL, because he wasn't the same anymore. Biz is better than Perk nowadays so we might as well play him without jacking up our salary cap for a less than mediocre and declining Perkins.

perkins is not the same player he was 5 years ago.

regardless, perkins (or someone like him) would be too slow to pair with jefferson. neither of them can guard anyone away from the basket. we need to get quicker and longer in the frontcourt, not slower and shorter.

Al has been doing a better job of going into his moves quicker these last 3-4 games or so but it's mostly been really lousy defending combined with Al is actually hitting his jumper. He's been pumpfaking people out of their shoes and literally no one challenges him for rebounds, ever. Still, there is no way that an offense centered around Al Jefferson making jump shots should beat an NBA team so this is nothing to get excited about. Competent teams that actually scout their opponents will make us pay eventually.

It's comments like this that drive me insane. Were you not impressed when we were annihilating the Raptors 71-41, despite losing our floor general, our leader, and easily our best player, yet they were fully healthy? Were you not impressed by Al Jefferson being THE ONLY PLAYER ALL SEASON to record a double-double in the 1st quarter to lead us? We played a very promising 30 minutes, only to follow it up by the worst 18 minutes I've seen all year. There were highs and very low lows. Al was really impressive, hell, everyone was impressive in the 1st 30 minutes of this game. When you say there was nothing impressive about tonight, you are 100% wrong. I just think you're fully committed to hate everything Al Jefferson does and it's **** pathetic. Al could have a quadruple double with 40 points and I would be surprised if you didn't point out that Al missed out on a backdoor cut in the middle of the third quarter.

:violin:

Also laughing at the idea of playing Perkins and Al together. That would be unwatchable basketball.

I think the players who fit this mold that would make for a good pairing with Jefferson would be Anderson Verajao, Noah, Larry Sanders, D. Jordan, or even Tyson Chandler. But the basic premise is that Jefferson needs a player beside him who can make up for what he lacks.

Catch, in my opinion, Biz is short for a big man, he's strong with long arms and good athleticism, and he has qualities that Jefferson lacks, like rim protection, help defense and he seems to have more energy in his game. The problem I think they'd have is that Jefferson isn't really a big center which is why I think a bigger player on the front line would be good for him. Same for Biz, I think he'd be better playing alongside a 7 footer who can score. I would like to see how Biz can do playing alongside Jefferson for extended minutes, I don't think they've played much together for long periods so I'd be interested to see how they look.

I might be wrong, but I don't think they've played a one single minute alongside each other this season

UPDATE: I looked it up, and that would be correct that Bismack Biyombo has yet to play even a nanosecond alongside Al Jefferson this season

That's ridiculous. It's no reason these two shouldn't have spent anytime on the floor together.
