it was never dwight lol
people just wanted a scapegoat and believed the leftover narrative from dwight being a 'cancer' in orlando (the gm killed that team), la (he literally had back surgery and kobe wanted to scapegoat dwight for not being crazy like him), and houston (like harden ain't out choking in the playoffs constantly, blaming other players ie lin, and beefing with coaches too) through espn's agent mouthpiece machine
dude is flawed, but he's always been a legit center in this league.
Dwight is definitely not a cancer here.
My issue is how he was used and the offense that was built around him. This team has tons of trouble moving the ball this year. There is very little flow and passing to find the open man. Instead we have Kemba hero ball, dumping the ball to Dwight for him to give it a go (which sometimes works), and lots of 1on1, 1on2, and even one 1on3+ attempts. It's ugly ugly UGLY ball.
I want Cliff and our coaching staff gone more than I want Dwight gone, but I really wouldn't mind seeing him go too, especially if it forced Cliff to change things up.
I've said it before, but Dwight is a crutch - and we've seen Cliff long enough to know that he's absolutely gonna lean on a big, no matter how flawed/hurt/bad/dumb they are, when his milquetoast perimeter game isn't running like a well oiled machine. I'm not gonna fault Dwight just like I'm not gonna fault JOB. Our guys give these bigs the ball because its the only way that initiating the offense downhill and towards a bucket feels natural within his scheme.
We've seen it plenty of times this year where guys will run from the ball for 15 seconds and Dwight's the only one ready to put his FG% on the line and go for it. To be honest, I'm still equating him turning the ball over under the rim and out of bounds to dumber shots that anyone else on the team could be taking and missing. Guards get to take bad shots and airballs, why shouldn't a big that gets murdered under the rim all night?
This all goes back to Batum for me lol. I'm a hater now. Two years ago I never would've imagined a scenario where MKG would ever pass him as an offensive player/playmaker but its looking more and more feasible each passing week. This dude can't even recognize a sealed off defender anymore. Eyes going bad from counting all that money. At least Kemba has the excuse of being a midget for not getting the ball to Dwight in time.
