Bringing in FAs is the least important way of acquiring talent in the NFL especially for a team with no Cap Space. No team that kills it on paper during Free Agency is any good. Team generally don't let good players go until they aren't worth the money any more.
Yet that was the job Gettleman had at NYG. He was in charge of scouting the NFL players for FA. The draft was Marc Ross the young guy we should have hired when we got a new GM.
I don't think hes the 2nd coming of Jesus or anything. I just I think we could hire the entire 49ers front office and it would take more than 2 off-seasons to sort out all the things wrong with this team. Any worst contracts in the NFL article includes more than one Panthers player and usually a couple more in the honorable mention section.

The OL has been below average, but Newton is alive and we all knew it would suck after Gross retired anyway. Let Benjamin develop, maybe sign a receiver and an OL that is average or slightly above average.
But we have to address the secondary and pass rush. Immediately.

But yeah that secondary is a joke. I would not be against spending some high draft picks and cap space on a couple of CBs and safeties at all. DE's usually take a few years to develop so I'm not sure if they would spend another high pick on one if they're in win-now mode. I would say just go BPA on OT, RB, CB, and S.

everything except QB, TE and LB. Much easier than trying to list all the positions we should target in the next draft.
I'd probably lean towards OT and DB with our first 2 picks next year and also focus on improving team speed across the board.
