KembaWalker wrote:imo expecting prospects to aim to please everyone and target the highest possible draft spot is just an outdated old school concept. people still think these teams have power over these kids and they just dont. the teams have to sell themselves to these already NIL and social media wealthy kids. a few million a year in contract one is nothing to them. you aren't dealing with some desperate kid that got 20k under the table to his uncle to play at Rutgers for a year and now needs to get paid ASAP like its 2002

just get used to it cause its gonna get more and more like this going forward
Good point re nil created less need for immediate money. The pendulum is swinging back towards the rookies. 2nd rd picks going back to school. Agents telling teams not to draft 2nd rd guys without a 2way deal etc...

But historically, rookies had WAY more power in 90s when there was no rookie scale. That was wild times. Players also used to be able to withhold medical info.

My fear is that VJ goes 3rd
Hornets trade out of 4th - that team takes Ace

Knowing Hornets history he will be added to the graphic with SGA and Kobe.

If we trade him, he will end up supercharged Carmelo Anthony. If we take he will end up Anthony Randolph.

Would rather take him and ruin it for the rest of the league; gotta start letting our plagued franchise bring other teams down.
Your Charlotte Hornets! We’ll eventually get something right;right?

I'm starting to think Ace is all dog and not at all diva.

Want him.

Always appreciate how Fats puts his thumb on the scale and runs the war room like nobody's sitting there but him, pacing back and forth, telling people to shut up, or just repeating the same **** over and over again, then pointing the finger at all of his colleagues in that imaginary space, accusing them of never changing their minds.

I agree we should be less concerned with building up our own team than torpedoing the other 29.

I agree 100%

These reports mean nothing to me. Like I said when the Castle only wants to play PG reports came out. I don't care we have to do what's best for us as a franchise. If Ace is the BPA you take him.

These players are hiring bad agents and it's making them look bad. Ace loves basketball he will play for whoever drafts him. His agent can keep scaring teams off, but we can't afford to pass on the best prospect on the board.

Don't overthink this draft Ace if he's available.

I don't fault their agencies. They're doing their jobs by negotiating the floor for their clients.

It never hurts even when the team targeting them knows/recognizes their value as the Spurs did at 4 with Castle.

Hope the Sixers are stupid.

Ainge won't be at 5.

Let's remove the opportunity for Utah, because, you know, **** that guy.

one of the funnier things with all this drama is that Ace Bailey would look like an absolute stud in an empty gym workout

hitting turn around faders versus a chair, jamming on Chucky in his couch cushion drill etc

a workout doesn't answer a single question about his game anyway

Film should speak for itself. You learn nothing in a workout.

Ace is a athletic 2 way wing with a weak handle doesn't really attack the paint but can score at mid and 3pt range.

A workout is not going to tell us anything we didn't already know. I wish they would get rid of workouts tbh. This is why you have scouts who do this all throughout the season. They watch them in live game action.

Desmond Bane scored about as much for a consistent playoff team and got a max contract out of it. The strategy isn't making total sense here.

They really should get him away from his representation. This just sounds like he's around the kind of parasites who'd think nothing of hooking him up with a baby momma and a dealer just so they could keep their claws in their cash cow. Trouble is even scum have lawyers.

What makes you think he's immature?

He didn't cause any trouble at Rutgers. He hired a bad agent who's killing his rep.

New deep dive, ironically his best gig early on may actually be 3-and-D role player. Still think he's a good fit here since chucking 3s and D-ing up is what Charles would have him doing to start anyway, don't understand why that sounds like poison to a lot of people. Question's does he have the mentality.

In fact, teams will likely encourage these 1-on-1 situations early on, as Ace’s tendency to settle for contested deep two-point looks won’t be a successful formula in the league. And because he doesn’t have the paint slashing nor the court vision to exploit aggressive defenses, his on-ball offensive creation will be quite limited. As a result, I think Ace’s chance to blossom into the offensive supernova that many project is slimmer than he’s being accredited due to these struggles creating advantages and rim pressure.

That said, there’s still a very apparent path for Bailey to experience offensive success! The Rutgers star’s most effective play types in college were spot-ups, off-screen looks, in transition, and even his limited reps as a pick-and-pop artist. Bailey’s most prosperous NBA outcomes will hinge on his ability to maximize these high-efficiency situations. Even though this may mean taking the ball out of Ace’s hands, the gigantic shooter role offers a clear path to valuable shooting volume.

If Ace drops to 4 and we don't take him, that will be a tough pill to swallow especially after reaching on Tidjane last year.

Would be weird to play it safe at 4 in this draft but who knows. You gotta think if Ace falls past 3, there will be a ton of offers coming in at 4.

We have to get this draft right.

I like Ace but this is a solid post.
