Good point re nil created less need for immediate money. The pendulum is swinging back towards the rookies. 2nd rd picks going back to school. Agents telling teams not to draft 2nd rd guys without a 2way deal etc...KembaWalker wrote:imo expecting prospects to aim to please everyone and target the highest possible draft spot is just an outdated old school concept. people still think these teams have power over these kids and they just dont. the teams have to sell themselves to these already NIL and social media wealthy kids. a few million a year in contract one is nothing to them. you aren't dealing with some desperate kid that got 20k under the table to his uncle to play at Rutgers for a year and now needs to get paid ASAP like its 2002
just get used to it cause its gonna get more and more like this going forward
But historically, rookies had WAY more power in 90s when there was no rookie scale. That was wild times. Players also used to be able to withhold medical info.
