Makes me sick to my stomach. I think Cho gets amnesty because fans obsessed with the MKG pick. And I think any negativity towards Cho is like an insult towards MKG in their eyes. But when you put it this way - 20 M in cap space and 2 first rounders - it's clear as day that it goes beyond his obsession with defense amidst a tidal wave shift towards offense throughout the league. If this were 1985 when Cho was forming his impression of basketball, we would be getting ahead instead of falling behind. The focus on defense is OK, the obsession with defense and complete absence of drafting range shooting is not OK. Anyways, he had a horrible offseason.

MKG is just fine and one of the few and only reasons we do win some games instead of losing them all. It's the horrible job Cho has done at putting the right players around MKG or better yet in between MKG and Kemba where it's been 3 years of this BS. The slightest of hope we ever had was CDR at SG when Hendo got injured last year. CDR was splashing 3s and our offense was going thru the roof. Kemba assist were up and everything. I just don't get why Cho hasn't done more to make sure his best core players are surrounded by players that'll make life easier on them and the overall team better. I could care less about how nice of a guy Hendo has been or whatever trade target doesn't have enough defense.

And I wouldn't say that MKG is a Cho pick. MKG was a consolation prize after they missed out on AD at #1 and it was the right pick because Beal and Waiters and whatever SG that can make a few 3s aren't nowhere near the difference maker MKG is to winning.

Give me a break, Cho is teflon on this site and his defense-only draft picks, MKG being the main one, are a major reason why. I think their philosophy is stack the team with defense and let the coach figure out the offense. Too bad Cliff can't hit corner 3's or catch and shoot.

We could easily be all offense and no defense all the while being worse than we are now.

Cho ain't no teflon either or at least he shouldn't be. MKG might have the best jumper on the team these days although he lack range. MKG isn't a problem.

I think having 2 wings who can't shoot from range consistently (1 who has not attempted a single 3), don't work together and they're both part of the problem. But I agree you could probably get by with upgrading SG and/or PF but even if you do you're still behind other teams that have wings who stretch the floor. The space we operate in is much too small and all the lack of skill gets magnified. The passes have to be more precise, the cuts more slick, the shots more timely, the pace quicker because the shot clock moves faster when every lane is blocked and every look is not a good one. We are a train wreck.

I agree that we can't have 2 wings that can't shoot but when it's broken down only one of them is a difference maker that matters when it come down to winning or losing and that's MKG while Hendo is in the way. MKG is a elite perimeter defender that we can sic on teams. I just don't understand why we haven't had a revolving door of trying SGs that are 3pt threats to supplant Hendo. CDR was better than Hendo for us and we let him walk without a care in the world.

I still don't understand why in order to make your point about our need for shooting you bring up MKG as though he is the reason it's an issue. MKG is clearly the most valuable player on our roster. Disagree with that statement?

He's not the reason we don't have a shooter at SG, yet he inevitably is brought up in these discussions.

How much of the defensive mindset of our roster is a result of MJ? I don't have any quotes or specific examples, but I know I have read in the past comments from Jordan about wanting a defensive coach and prioritizing defense when building a team. Jordan seems like the kind of guy who would gravitate towards the MKG types during the scouting and workout sessions. I can see Jordan leaning towards looking for the next Pippen/Rodman/Horace Grant/Oakley type players as opposed to the next Kerr/Hodges/Armstrong/Kukoc type players. And you know that Jordan just loves those guys like Kemba and MKG who ooze intangibles and a winning mentality. Food for thought. Hendo, Kemba and MKG seem like Jordan guys.

Cho on the other hand has a clear infatuation with physical measurable, length and athleticism that show well in a workout setting - Biyombo, Zeller, Vonleh.

Clifford seems to like vets, guys who aren't flakey, guys who he knows will run his offense and defense, even if they aren't the best players or have huge holes in their games - Max, Neal, Marvin, Mo, Al, McRoberts, CDR.

Between owner, GM and coach, there doesn't seem to be anyone who really values passing, ball movement, player movement and 3-point shooting (well, except Cliffs odd spacing decisions).

Point being, I can't sit here and put it all on Cho because I do think Jordan has a hand in this roster. I think Jordan is stuck in the 90s just as much as Cliff.

We have been trying to dump/upgrade Henderson for years. Arron Afflalo, Gordon Hayward and Lance. Haven't managed to get it done yet, either the team wants way to much (Afflalo), wanted to keep him (Gordon) or has just massively underachieved (Lance).

This upcoming draft could finally be a solution with several wings that can make threes Booker,Hezonja,Oubre and to a lesser extent Winslow and Johnson. It is just a question of how flexible Cliff will be since only 1 of them is a "true SG" (Booker) but I think any of them can play SG on offense and if they cant guard one MKG can do it.

as for the ESPN thingy, i am curious to see where our individual members of the FO rank. My guess is Cliff will be the highest,Cho #2 and MJ #3.

I have no faith on our scouting department. When Dicky Simpkins was playing, did anyone ever think "man, that guy is going to make a great NBA executive one day?" Why do we even have a European scout? We still have MJs kid in a key role in the front office. And some how Stephen Silas still manages to have a job surviving not one, but two coaching changes.

Defense wins, point blank. What some people don't realize between all the 3s swishing thru the nets is that GSW is a just as good of a defensive team as they are offensive. I have no problem with Cho, Cliff, or MJ thinking that way but there has to be a balance. I don't think MJ's fingerprints are on this team much tho. He might have input like any caring owner would but he's given Cho the keys.

Every corporation has nepotism. The entire NBA front office is built off relationships and ass kissing. They say Silas survived 2 coaching changes because his contract stretched thru both tenures. I hate his face after the tanking seasons personally and think whatever success he had with Monta in GSW is overrated.

I think MJ's kid or daughter is in a marketing position so I'm fine with that. But his brother on the other hand... Ugh!

He is. It's Rod Higgins older son, only one year older than Cory. Also played ball at Colorado.

I don't think it's a big deal. All he probably do is record and coordinate videos of whatever the higher ups tell him to. Basically just a do-boy. I know if I ran a corporation I would let my friends and stuff do the flunky work too if they were qualified educationally. I doubt Larry Jordan has any pull either other than to report whatever nonsense Cho might be up to to Jordan while he's on the golf course.
