all part of his big board

Hmm so Kon might be smokescreen and we really want Bailey. That would set the board on fire lol

only if people try to have polarizing takes or if ace makes a stink about playing here. its not black and white. preferences or not, we are getting a super talented player at 4 - ace, tre or vj.
i only think hornets draft kon in a trade back. i dont think they'll take him 4.
i think ace fomo is very real and at end of day, hornets probably wouldn't pass on him. hopefully they trust their dev/coaching to make it work.

agree with LOH
you dont draft ace with the goal of trying to trade him later. thats huge mistake. either trade is agreed before pick or you draft who you want, ace or not.

Back in the late 80s when I first started becoming obsessed with the draft there was really only maybe one national guy who did draft coverage and then local coverage from Rick Bonnell. And it pretty much stayed that way all the way through the 90s and early 2000s.
nbadraft.net and then DraftExpress/draftcity popped up around 2004 from three guys who were realGM posters - jon g, prerak and daniel.back then it was called draftcity. That was like Such a breath of fresh air for draft junkies. As some of you know I did write for draftcity for 2 years 2005-2007. As many of you know as well they got sued by Kelenna Azubuike And his agent Joel Bell, for comment the site made about suggesting he might have been paid to play in college. As part of the settlement they had to shut down the site and post a retraction. jon g went on to start draftexpress, And the other two guys dropped out.

And then we have had an absolute explosion of draft content which really has peaked this year. I can't ever remember a year where there were this many people doing such in depth analysis on draft prospects. i've tried to post as many of these as I can find Either youtube channels or substacks, x-accounts etc...

That being said I am curious as to which draft analysts you have found to be the best at what they do this year or the most enjoyable or interesting ones that have really made you rethink some prospects?

draftexpress/espn - jon g, woo
bleacher report - wasserman via br
yahoo - koc
ringer -j kyle mann, chau
no ceilings - tyler rucker, tyler metcalf
athletic/game theory - sam v
nba big board - rafael barlowe
derek parker
swish theory - matt powers
upside swings
nate babcock
mike gribanov
nbadraft.net - the og internet draft site
upsideswings
cbs - adam finklestein
utilitysports

rip to 2 great ones - stepien and deanondraft

i think this year ive probably enjoyed listening to and been swayed most by - sam v, wasserman (another og), upsideswings and no ceilings

I didn't even know KOC left the ringer, but it makes sense with all the talent they brought on board. Ive always used the ringer for more in depth, KOC tends to lock on on favorite but flawed prospects and rank them way higher (like killian hayes).

I've always used nbadraft.net just for the names, measurables and general skills. I use the ringer for deep dives and podcasts, generally agree with Russillo's takes. Last few years I've really listened to Sam Vecenie, but haven't gone back to see if his rankings were good or not.

I like how I can go to nbadraft.net and within 1 second find general information on any prospect, whereas I have to click through a lot on other sites and for the ringer's annoying ass website have to wait for their flash graphics to load.

I haven't found an NBA equivalent for the NFL where Walterfootball.com is the best every single year with their mock and projections and before this year has gotten the last 7 Panthers first round picks correct (Morgan and Co. heavily misdirected their interest in Tet McMillian this year)

My final draft board:

Flagg

Harper

VJ
Kon
Tre
Ace

Queen
CMB

I will say though, I've never felt so unsure about 4 prospects at once. Like I cannot truly decide who should be higher between VJ/Kon/Tre/Ace as there's valid arguments for all of them (yes even Ace). We need to walk away with one of those 4 (or Harper if we traded up).

Oh interesting I didn't know that, thought he just came out of nowhere. Makes me like him even less that he's a nomad bottom scraper.

Jon g is a hustler... and I mean that as a compliment. When he first started draft City he was someone that was just absolutely determined to go For Broke in terms of making it work. He was like 18 years old freshman in college and pretty much just decided to start going all in and was traveling to all these different tournaments traveling to Europe traveling anywhere he could get a pass too on his own money on his own dime that website wasn't making any money. And he just started making connections left and right as an 18-year-old college kid who basically started out on realGM like the rest of us. His best skill is his connections and the fact that he's relentless in terms of doing what it takes to get those connections. I don't necessarily think his basketball analysis is on the same level as some of the other guys. Mike Schmidt who also worked on Draft Express for a long time was probably better in terms of basketball analysis but he got scooped up by the Blazers front office a few years ago.

Watching more Ace tape, again. What strikes me so much is how similar his game looks to Miller’s when he first entered the league. If we keep Ace, what will our offense look like? Our defense? I know…don’t draft for fit, but what does he bring that Brandon won’t? So my Ace dilemma continues.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

The mid post game didn't stick out to you?

The guy has legit skills in the post even had a signature jump hook shot he used in the film I watched. While he is similar to Miller they do operate in different spots. Miller is more 3pt heavy. Ace will get his buckets all over the court. Also Ace has more potential on defense. He's more of a 2 way wing imo.

I think in today's game, it's a good thing to have 2 maybe even 3 wings in your lineup that have 2 guard skills. If it pans out, could be a nightmare for opposing teams on both ends of the court

Good points, still classify his defense as having “potential”. But clearly Ace has the highest potential for star of those after Harper.

Hot take, I know, but CMB is a better prospect than Kon.

The thing is Charles Lee seems to care little about that. I already feel like Miller took less midrange shots last year when he played. He wants these guys bombing away like the Celtics do
