to be fair you said you'd take him 2nd overall. can't hate too much, I liked Thomas Robinson
No, not fair, hence the sig. I said he had 2nd overall talent and was better than MKG, which was true at the time. He almost beat Kentucky by himself. If I was privy to his character issues I wouldn't have done that, I wouldn't have drafted him top 5 regardless b/c his draft stock in no way justified that. I was really surprised he went as high as he did, I wanted Charlotte to trade down with Indiana and draft Drummond and White if he was there at 24 or whatever that late first rounder was.

Exactly what I'm talking about, poor reading comprehension. Look at the whole quote:
Yeah, he's a first round lock for sure. He should go in that 5-10 range but NBA GMs will pass him up for safer picks and he'll probably hover around 15-20. His knocks are: anxiety disorder, past run ins with the law (related to disorder, reason he transferred from Minnesota to Iowa St), weight issue, not a consistent shooter.
But IMO the strengths far outweigh those red flags and I'd take him over anybody not named Anthony Davis. NBA trainers should take care of that weight and anxiety thing much better than in college.
This is not the same as "Charlotte should draft him with their pick." I emphasized 'should,' inferring that I acknowledge that he won't go in the 5-10 range, where
I think his talent should be. I guessed correctly as early as June 7th that he'd go "around 15-20" (he went 16th) which we can infer that I was pretty aware of his draft stock's actual value. And again in the last part: "I'd take him over..." "I would" does not equal "Charlotte should." Just going off pure talent I would have taken White over anybody not named Anthony Davis but that ignores the reality of other factors considered in making a draft pick. I hate it when GMs reach on a draft pick, it's my biggest pet peeve and I've blasted Charlotte GMs for this for years. It would have been impossibly out of character for me to want Charlotte to draft a guy many people had slotted going in the 2nd round as a top 5 pick.
