This dude is the youngest assistant coach in NBA history at 27 years old with our very own Charlotte Hornets.

This guy has a degree in both sociology and management from Brown, this guy is a smart, hard worker who is an asset to the Charlotte franchise.

All of that sound good but let's not act like his father isn't the sole reason why he has a job in the NBA point blank period. All I'm saying is that I could care less if he sticks around but then again I have a blind eye to what goes on behind closed doors with the team.

Not his father at all, the nepotism of the NBA is what it is and definitely helps you get in the door but the entity of it is cut throat and if you can't hold your own you're out.

If you look into his history the most successful spell of his career was well away from his father in GS.

You honestly think Silas jr wouldn't be in the NBA without Silas sr is hilarious, I'd near say jr is the better coach!

What we really should say is lets not act like an exceptional, young, respected assistant coach would ever sign in Charlotte unless it was because of their father.

I would say it is the reason he got a job but not the reason he has one. He has proven to be a huge asset to teams and would not be unemployed long if we let him go.

Stephen Silas is a reputable young man and a hardworker, no doubt, but I wouldn't feel no type of way if Coach Big Red Dog decided to bring in his own protege to handle the duties previously held by Silas. Actually I would prefer it.

What you are missing is the fact that there is probably no one better who is willing to come to Charlotte.

Silas jr. is considered to be in the upper echelon of NBA Assistants in these area's-

Guard Coaching
Offensive Co-ordinator
Defensive Co-ordinator
Playbook Co-ordinator
Mentoring prospects

Stephen Silas literally by himself is capable of doing 5 different assistant jobs, I doubt Clifford could find better.

EDIT-He's good with bigs too.

I would have preferred to wait until the Spurs were done, but it looks like that might be too long into the offseason. Great hire, interested to see what he can do with our players.

Please bring Ewing in to mentor Biz. We haven't had a good big man coach, ever.

I'm digging it and count me in with the many that like Silas remaining as an asst.

Keep Silas for Walker, Ewing for Biyombo, and let MKG soak up everything in between.

Sounds good..

After a few more seasons of working with Silas jr, do not worry...

Kemba have it all.

Silas Jr has the potential to be a head coach in this league.

It's hard to say anything for sure at this point but I like the idea of hiring a defensive coordinator who once was a part of a good defensive team after seeing what Thibs has done in Chicago or assistants like David Joerger getting credit for building that great Memphis team defense. This hiring definitely has some potential as good defense is the way to go for our franchise to ever become a legit playoff team.

Ambivalent, but hopeful. I like his CV and his rep. The major plus to me is the ringing endorsement from SVG. Knowing how unfiltered SVG is, I think it's hard to dismiss his praise as noise.

Ringing endorsement, too, from Jeff Van Gundy:
"Steve Clifford is a no-brainer just like Thibs (Chicago Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau) was," Van Gundy said. "Clifford has been overlooked. It’s just like Thibs, who took forever to get noticed. But I’ve always said: Some GM is going to make a lot of money off Clifford because he is going to get the maximum level output from his team, and the organization will benefit greatly from that."

True. I know they can occasionally come across as blowhards, but I never doubt the veracity of what either of the Van Gundy boys has to say.

Been away for the holiday weekend, but the more I hear about him, the more I like the hire. Any coach that is being compared to Thibs is good in my book, and seems like we are getting him at the right time, he's hungry to prove himself after paying his dues. Should really help our D, which was really glaring last year. Also hope it helps our mental focus, help us stay in the game when the other team goes on runs. Coach BRD is a coach we can grow with, and hopefully grow a team around him. I think we wanted to get this hire in place as soon as we could before the draft. Since this draft is such a crapshoot, we wanted to make sure the player we got will fit in with the coach and style of play.

Let's get the best player that suits our team, and develop and grow this year. Get a top three pick next year, throw on the hornets gear, and playoffs here we come!
Who I woulda took:
2023: Miller | 2022: Duren | 2021: Bouknight, Jones | 2020: Ball | 2019: PJ | 2018: MPJ | 2017: Monk | 2016: Damian Jones | 2015: Winslow | 2014: Vonleh, Napier | 2013: McLemore | 2012: MKG | 2011: Knight, Kawhi

Within the past 24 hours Coach Red Dog has grown on me. I'm really looking forward to seeing what he brings to the table. If he could make us at least a top 20 defense next year I will be crying tears of joy while singing his praise as if he's a god. More realistically though I just don't want to see us as the 30th ranked defense again after consecutive years of doing so.

Hopefully we wont have another 1 and done. I honestly thought we would pick Alvin Gentry and I hate we missed an opportunity to grab him but if this guy is half the coach Thibs is then I'll be happy. Very excited to see how this pans out.

I'm sure we'll be reading the same thing from Bobcats players when Dunlap gets his next job
