I think it was Messina > Borrego > Udoka > Hammon
And then they have their skill development guys like Chip Engelland.

From his wiki page. "Borrego began in 2003 his career in professional basketball with the San Antonio Spurs, starting as an assistant video coordinator in the summer of 2003"
Totally giving me Clifford vibes. I admit that I know nothing about this guy and have no idea if he is good or bad, but it feels like we just hired another long time assistant who was never going to get a head coaching gig unless we hired them...
Didn't Spo get his foot in the door in the NBA in some similar capacity?

It gave me mixed feelings because I share your dislike for Kyler, but the descriptors he used are exactly what I'd want to hear describing a head coach. Now I'm just more confused.

I'm honestly confused by the descriptors. Aggressive and player-centric? How does that work?
Hey! Batum! You gotta bring some more energy on D! If you're feeling okay with that, that is. *wink* Now get out there, Tiger! Or not, whatever is comfortable for you.
And for the record I'm on my 3rd IPA right now and it's a light night for sure.

Yes. Budenholzer also started as a video coordinator for the Spurs back in the 90's.

As Charlotte Hornets' next head coach, here are 8 things James Borrego should do immediately...
3 things James Borrego can do to improve the Hornets
Hornets got James Borrego from Spurs. At his best, he brings 4 great habits with him.

I'd make MKG the 4, Kaminksy the 5, and Zeller the energy big off the bench
Try to get rid of Marvin and Dwight
Move Batum to 5, and draft/acquire a two way 2 guard who plays D and shoots 3's

Nic Batum at center?
