Totally giving me Clifford vibes. I admit that I know nothing about this guy and have no idea if he is good or bad, but it feels like we just hired another long time assistant who was never going to get a head coaching gig unless we hired them...

Didn't Spo get his foot in the door in the NBA in some similar capacity?

Yes. Budenholzer also started as a video coordinator for the Spurs back in the 90's.

For some reason seeing Kyler say that actually makes me feel worse. I have a borderline irrational antagonism towards Kyler.

It gave me mixed feelings because I share your dislike for Kyler, but the descriptors he used are exactly what I'd want to hear describing a head coach. Now I'm just more confused.

I'm honestly confused by the descriptors. Aggressive and player-centric? How does that work?

I think I like the hire. I’ll reserve any judgment of value until I actually see how the games play out and stuff but that would’ve been my same train of thought had Messina, Udoka, Larranaga, or Stackhouse were hired.

I like this for the simple fact that it works for a rebuild. No big name coach wants to come here for that. And we need a rebuild in the worst possible way.

Nic Batum at center?

You could technically play Batum at the 5 at times when the other team is playing a small PF or a SF at the 5, but I don't think you'd ever really consider him a 5. He needs to play the 4 a lot more and is more of a 3/4 hybrid than a SG, though.
