Report: Harrison Barnes to Return for Sophomore Year at North Carolina

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/6535 ... h-carolina

With guys like Sully and Barnes (and maybe more) looking like they are heading back to school this draft, which once looked to be very deep, is starting to become a little shallow!

One guy who intrigues me for a 2nd round pick would be the Freshman Jeremy Lamb from UConn. He has really come on pretty strong starting with the Big East Tourney and has a sweet stoke. If he comes out with Kemba, would not mind grabbing him with our 2nd. My fear is that his talent will continue to show up thru the Draft Camp and all of a sudden he becomes a late 1st round or very early 2nd and is out of our reach.

Again, Zeller won't be coming out. He's going to go back for his Senior year since this was his first fully healthy season. It's terrible news for us that Barnes is returning (though understandable with his comments about getting an education) because it moves everybody else up one slot.

I could've made an excuse for Terrence "Stroke" Jones earlier in the year because he was playing great ball, but with the way he trailed off towards the end of the year, he's slid down my board. I'd still take him, but only on two conditions:

1. Kawhi Leonard is gone
2. We tie his left hand to his side all summer and make him realize he has two sides of his body. He even turns sideways to shoot his jumper!

i wasnt too impressed with those morris twins from kansas. they look like career backup pfs to me. but at 20, i guess getting a backup pf who can stay in the league for 5+ years isnt a waste.

Terrance Jones has been the one player who really turned me off in the tournament. Until the last game it seemed like he did a lot of standing around. I was thinking, damn he's lazy, or, his feet are just too big for him to lug around. He redeemed himself somewhat in the last game only because he nabbed 15 rebs which shows effort. But I'm hoping he's not BAP when we pick. For some reason he reminds me of Stromile Swift:(

we should really draft Keith Benson, dude will average atleast 9 reboudns in the NBA, its really hard to be a bust as a center, if you have some type of postgame in college since the current core of centers in the league is so weak.

I know what you mean about Jones. He looked awesome for the 1st half of the season but really trailed off after that. I keep reading that Kentucky ball didn't suit his style and that they were too much of an outside shot type team. It's a pity Kanter couldn't play. Would have been good to see those two together and a more inside based game.

I also know what you mean about Kawhi. I tossed and turned about which one I would take 1st because I really liked what I saw from Kawhi - a lot, but at the end of the day I think that Jones has more upside and more of a chance of being a "home run" type pick.

In saying that, I only got to see Kawhi play twice - so maybe he has that "it" factor too and I just don't know it?

I really like the idea of getting Jordan Wiliams with our 2nd round pick. That would be ace IMO.

I think a lot of it had to do with, like you said, them changing from the dribble drive to a pick and pop offense. The dribble drive really let each player get a chance to make a play with the ball individually but the newer style focused more on the PG (no wonder Knight started to play better) and relied on set shooters.

I do agree that he has higher star potential than Leonard but it's troubling to not see much improvement in his game over the year. I remember talking with you about Tyreke a couple of years ago and how noticeable it was to see his improvement as the year wound on--something I continue to talk about with Barnes.

There's certainly no denying there is a lot of potential and physical tools to work with, I just don't know if he has the BBIQ to put it together and work it all out.

I am really seeing and hearing a lot of good stuff about Alex Burks, the SG from Colorado. Think he is projected around #16 player by Chad Ford, while Hamilton is #19. But Ford has Hamilton going at the end of the Lottery. Many other mocks have Hamilton slipping back to where our NO pick would be. I saw Hamilton 3x this season and was only moderately impressed. Never saw Burks, but from what I read it seems impressive. Interested to see if they were both available around the NO pick which would be want and take.

Jeremy Lamb caught my eye too. Long and smooth and like you said sweet stroke. But then there's this, in today's USA Today: "He couldn't guard a chair," UConn coach Jim Calhoun once said of him."

He won't enter the draft if he's a projected 2nd rounder. No point in discussing him until next year

I'm not watching it, but looking at the stats I think Kemba needs to shoot more.

Five players I like for each of picks.....and why

1st pick
Brandon Knight- Clutch, Create own shot, Three point range, Potential to grow into SG.
Jan Vesely- Athletic 6-11 SF with three point range, has star potential
Alec Burks- Ability to get to the hoop and foul line. Great Midrange and instant Offense.
Jonas Valanciunas- 7 footer who has all tools to be a top 5 center in league.
Kemba Walker- Franchise player. Monta Ellis Clone.
Donatas Monteijunas- Left Handed Bargnani. would give us unique look at Center and fill whole.

2nd pick
Jordan Hamilton- All-around great player, underrated range. Rebounding and shot form.
Tyler Zeller- The big fundamental. Has ability to be Tim Duncan type player with less Defense.
Tyler Honeycutt- Reminds me of Trever Ariza or Nicolas Batum.
Tobias Harris- Great scorer for age. NBA body and has swag.
Nolan Smith- Combo guard who has good court vision and scores in multiple ways.

3rd pick
LaceDarius Dunn- Perfect scoring guard off bench.
Marshon Brooks- See Dunn^
Keith Benson- Center in the second round with athletic ability.
David Lighty- Experience and toughness. Rebounds, plays great DEF. Good range and slasher.
Chandler Parsons- Intangibles, dont see much difference between him and Gordon Hayward.
