I think Clifford is a guy who could get thru to DJ. this wouldnt bother me at all. I think I'd rather have DJ leading the 2nd line than Sessions

Yes, he played well with Chicago last year especially when he got the chance to start. Options are limited for PG depth.

Agree that the "newer and improved" version of DJ would be a strong plus for this team. Depending on the size/length of contract I prefer him to Hinrich.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

TS% of .574, PER of 16.8, and the highest win share numbers of his career. He was great with Chicago last year.

Assuming we can get him back on the cheap I'm all for it. If we get the DJ from last season that's a solid guy to add to the rotation. Helps our spacing too, and we all know how much Clifford loves that.

He still can't defend. I doubt he'd come here to play backup and if he plays well enough to start or play alongside Kemba (I thought Clifford didn't like small ball?) then our perimeter defense will be weakened sufficiently enough to no longer hide Jefferson at all. And you know Clifford will throw out some #spacing lineups like DJ, Neal, Hendo, Zeller and Al to play 4th quarters. Do you really want to see that?

I don't bother understanding how we get a top 10 defense out a team with absolutely terrible defnders

We don't have a top 10 defense in 4th quarters. It leaves when MKG does.

Kemba is undersized but he's above-average defensively. But he's still undersized.
Hendo is an average defender but he has good size/athleticism.
MKG is a stud.
McBob was average but he was smart and had decent athleticism.
Al is one of the worst defenders in the history of the NBA.

DJ is decidedly the 2nd worst defender in that bunch and any lineup featuring him and Kemba or Neal (also abysmal) torpedoes the overall team defense b/c we don't have two MKGs.

man.. i like MKG as much as the next guy, but he missed a LOT of time last season and our team DRTG didn't drop through the floor while he was gone. MKG is not Joakim Noah.

kemba gets eatin alive by bigger pgs. when his offense is out, he gets really, really dumb on defense.
henderson is the most overrated defender on the team by far.
mcbob is a terrible defender man or weakside
al is clown-tier

individually, the majority of our team sucks on defense. one more bad defender isn't going to sink the ship.

During MKG's injury it went from something like top 6 to 17th or thereabouts. That's pretty precipitous drop. If you think Kemba gets eaten alive by bigger PGs, you might have to refresh yourself on DJ's defense. McBob is not a terrible defender.

Unless I'm wrong, our DRTG only moved 3 pts during MKG's absence. I could be wrong though. Either way, MKG doesn't stay on the court long enough for him to be THAT heavy of a defensive presence.

McBob is objectively terrible defensively in every individually aspect. Most of the guys on our team are. He does a great job recognizing trap opportunities but if he's ever 1 on 1 or expected to guard the rim - he's losing that battle. The stretch in Feb-March was a perfect example of our bigs being absolutely worthless defensively and getting our guards fileted with their terrible hedging and weak side defense.

We're not a team full of great defensive players like Indiana. We're a team that operates on a wire better than the vast majority and we excel in exaggerating opposing team shortcomings while masking our own. I didn't think that was... such a debatable topic here. Outside of maybe 4 players, we don't have any 'defensive' guys on the team.

I don't remember the stats off the top of my head, but our defensive held up for maybe the first 5-7 games of MKG's absence, and then it went to $#!@

nothing I said revolved around win/loss. ppg also =! drtg.

and instead of this being another MKG debate, I'll just bow out. I really think people are missing my initial point of this very good defensive team being full of guys who are below average defenders individually.

I would welcome DJ back. He is more than capable as a back up PG and can start whenever Kemba is out.
