Not that he's been awful but given the state of the team should anyone really be extended long term? What's going on?

This is exactly it. I’m so confused that I almost don’t care anymore.
:o LeBron is 0-7 in game winning/tying FGs in the finals. And is 20/116 or 17% in game winning/tying FGs in the 4th/OT for his career. That's historically bad :o

Bulls are just being cheap, Bulls just do not want to pay for a new coach

Is he really the problem?

He’s not the solution.

It's amazing the caption pointed out that he coached 800 games, that is it? No mention of the win/loss record in the much weaker Eastern conference.
Not saying he is a bad coach though.

Billy is an average coach. The Bulls are extremely content making the play-in every year, so they don’t really care.

True story...

Right before he went to OKC, I was walking my baby. Billy jogged right past me. I told him to please never leave UF and I could immediately tell he felt some type of way. He knew he was gone, but just hadn't made the announcement yet.

What would firing him do? The next coach would be called terrible because the roster sucks? Firing him does nothing. Donovan is actually a good NBA coach.

Donovan is absolutely not "the problem" on the Chicago Bulls, but the fact that the coaching situation on the Bulls is this stable, is itself more evidence of the rot at the top.
So very true.

He's the least of the Bulls concerns. Not a bad coach and actually put together winning seasons and some fun seasons with the scrap pile of garbage he's been given during his time in Chicago.

No wonder the extension team talks have faded away, the league should be concentrating more on getting the bulls and pelicans sold to owners with a pulse.

Jerry has said he refuses to sell the Bulls. I wish he would.

He's been given talent to an extent but the crux has been it was all mismatched talent.

To his credit he did get it working but unfortunately it was built upon a glue guy in Lonzo that made everything work and he used up all the glue keeping it together there was none left for Lonzo to keep his body together.

I don't mind him as a coach but I don't understand why the extension needed to happen now?

I said it for a while now. Billy Donovan will coach the Bulls until he ends up in the FO. His son (Billy Donovan III) is the Bulls G-League coach. Dude isn't going anywhere.

Not like our team is good enough to complain about it. He is doing his job and getting the team into the play-in every year. Jerry has to be ecstatic.

Absolutely

In fact Donovan is one of the very few appealing assets the Bulls have to try lure any decent potential star/free agent.

Look at the absolute poo poo platter roster he has been forced to work with at the Bulls in the time he has being coach, I don't think many other coaches could do better.

As always the Bulls problems start at the top (Ownership)

Although if they want to blatantly tank/become the next Hornets, they could always fire Billy and replace him with an untired coach.
