Yes, our starting five can all shoot jumpers, that doesn't excuse that fact that Flips offense catered to forced jumpshots that were defensively dictated. Where were the pick'n'rolls? where were the cuts to the baskets?
We saw them under Larry Brown.... we even saw them under Rick Carlisle.
Not wanting to play Stuckey came from the Detroit media who reported that Joe Dumars sat Flip down and told him to play Stuckey even though Saunders was hesitant.
Amir didn't play all season beside a few games here or there or the few weeks when Flip decided to go hog wild and actually used the bench and we went on a long winning streak. Who said anything about playing Amir in the playoffs? Or against Garnett? if you want to argue, go argue with yourself.
I'm not letting the players off the hook, Sheed sucked and will most likely be leaving. Dice sucked as usual but he gets a pass cause he's nice and quiet. Ratliff sucked but hey, it's better than playing the young guys.
Under Larry Brown? in 2004, we may have had the worst offense to ever win the Nba title.... That series against Indiana was brutal... The one against New Jersey wasn't much better... The difference being was that
1.) The defensive rules favored us
2.) We had Ben Wallace in his prime patrolling the paint
We never opposed our will offensively... It was all done with defense and once Ben Wallace started slipping, everyone else was obviously hurt by that fact....
We haven't had a decent post player since Corliss and we haven't had a guy to slash to the basket and score since Stackhouse...
As a coach, You can only play with the pieces that you have....
Flip had jumpshooters....
