If he’s 6’11.75” barefoot then he’s 7’1” in shoes, so it’s not far off.

But that isn't the narrative that has gone around for the last couple years. Embiid growing a couple inches has been the narrative. Embiid wasn't 6'9 when he entered the league.

I think its going to be curious to see which players still get called by their shoe heights vs the players that get called by their barefoot height.

His true height finally being revealed doesn’t mean that he didn’t grow. He was listed as 7’0 coming in to the league so he was probably 6’10 or 6’10.5 at that point.

People refer to Deandre Jordan and Andre Drummond as 7’0 tall, when they are basically the same size as Ben Simmons.

  Yeah, sure because measuring in metric ... uh, it's better because ... nah, forgot it about it. You can measure in any standard you want. Make it fingers & hands or call it dobops & sterids; it doesn't matter as long as the same rules are used and not ignored or made up. If someone is 5 dobops & 9 sterids tall and someone else is 5 dobops & 7 sterids tall, the second guy is shorter. Taller or shorter is the same in any measurement.

Well in metric system you're 187 or 188 or 189 and you stay that.
In imperial units you're 6'3'' and 3/4 or 2/4 or even 1/4, but in the end you round it up to 6 feet and 4 inches..

Nope, I used to say I was 5'11 and someone told me I was taller than them, so I said I was 6'. True story. A few years later, someone told me I wasn't 6' because I was shorter than them and they were 6'. So I began saying I was 5'11 1/2". All of this happened when I was in my twenties. I was 29 when a man told me I wasn't 5'11 1/2" because he was and I was taller. So now I tell people I'm 5'12" and nobody argues with me.

The point is, people's perceptions are what we are talking about and I know for a fact that some of my Euro & Asian friends round up or down so that instead of your 187 or 188 or 189 they say they are 185 or 190. It's human nature. Of course then there are the extremely detail oriented people that will say, "I'm 187.3".

Statistically it is very rate to grow after this age. Yes it happens but it is rare. I believe they listed him 6'9" even in first year.

Teams are measuring and reporting their own players so if he asked to try to get close enough to only drop to 6'8" it could easily be done.

Every post of yours has been about downplaying everybody's height. Why are you so concerned about that?

I'm not trying to downplay anyones height. But I do know teams and players did not want this new policy and they are the ones who got to report the heights. Also only the Sixers so far (at least check) have offered up exact measurements to the quarter inch. If those are truthful they are the only ones we have real info on. For example we do not know yet if zion was 6'5 1/2" and rounded up. We may never know.

I can tell you as a former player height listings mean more to a lot of players than the average person might imagine. And if teams wanted to list guys shorter they'd have been doing it on their own the last 35 years.

I care more about what guys do on the court than their listed/true heights. idk why people obsess over this so much. Height also means less than things like arm length and reach when playing the game.

My bold prediction is that Embiid isn't 7 footer and that all Mavs players are 3 inchs taller than they were when they entered the NBA.

Thanks for posting your team's height. I wonder when my team will come out.

Just a question though, how did they round it out? Or is it allowed? I don't see any.. 1/2 or 3/4 in the heights compared to other teams.

P.S. Cuz I'm curious about Kemba.. is he a a legit 6'0 or 5'11 (lol)

Just taking guys from this past combine.

Carson Edwards: 5'10.75" at the combine. 5'11 here
Langford: 6'4.5" at the combine. 6'4 here
Fall: 7'5.25" at the combine. 7'5 here

So just from that I would say it looks like they're rounding up from 3/4 of an inch.

I'm surprised the Magic didn't release their new measurements before your game last night. That seems to be when teams are announcing them.

Anyway, yeah it seems like the Celtics heights might be rounded in this tweet. If I see something more exact I'll post it. As for Kemba, I kind of expected him to be like 5'10" without shoes, so even if they rounded and he's a hair under 6' without shoes that's pretty good imo.

Kemba measured at 5'11.5" barefoot at the combine.

They are rounding from 1/2". Langford must have been below 1/2" in this measurement. No way they are rounding 1/2" down.

And likely most teams. Nba forced this policy. Teams and players did not want it. And no nba reps there for measurements. If NBA really wants these measurements to be real and trusted they will have to do them themselves without socks and at 1/4" intervals.

Wow, Marvin Bagley 6'8, listed at 6'11. Huge discrepancy.

Why are ppl so obsessed with players heights..its as if they feel some sort of euphoric vindication any time a player's barefoot height gets revealed.

Why isn't anybody up in arms about Michael Jordan's real height?
