Considering the Knicks have more flexibility now to re-sign Mikal to the same deal next year and possibly Randle as well, plus still be able to make moves to while being under the 2nd apron…I’d say there’s a lot of untapped earning potential for Brunson if the Knicks manage to win a ring in this window.

Brunson’s game doesn’t rely heavily on athleticism either. I’m sure he’d figure it out even if he lost a step. He looked a step slow the entire playoffs with an injured foot and still dropped 35-40 on the regular.

His game relies on quickness that gives him all those shifty moves. Once he loses that, he's not getting around people.

His game relies more on his elite ball-handling and footwork more so than his quickness.

His foot speed, quickness is what he relies on. It's that quickness I'm talking about.

dolan is very loyal to his people.

how this most likely plays out is that brunson takes $37 mil less for 3 years (so $12 mil less so the knicks can do some cap maneuvering) then opts out after year 3 and gets the full max.

What some of these "gotta get yo bag" evangelists forget is Brunson is also being compensated with all kinds of things the team uses that have nothing to do with his contract.

I don't think there's anything in New York he'll ever have to pay a cent for again.

Tbh, I wouldn’t have been mad at Brunson if he decided to wait until next season to sign and get the most he could get.

…if there’s anyone to be mad at for what’s going on with the NBA cap situation/salary aprons, it’s CJ McCollum.

So his footwork? Doubt he’s losing that anytime soon

And now let the dominos fall…

Congrats Knicks fans. Ya'll deserve this after the decades of incompetent management.

Is it just me or did this all start when Dolan got the hell out of the way and stopped trying to be Mark Cuban?

James Dolan has been out of the way since he hired Phil Jackson. The success now though is from hiring real basketball talent evaluators with real relationships in the basketball world

I don't know if he made the decision all by himself or he was pushed to it... But he definitely shows what life is all about

I don't see how anyone could think otherwise or be cynical about this. Dude is happy where he is playing with his buddies, is still making a BOATLOAD of money and is leaving a legacy in NYC. He chose quality of life factors over maximizing every dollar of income, that is extremely rare in pro sports and should be celebrated. Good for him and good for the Knicks

I was already close to becoming a Knicks fan. But I now might root for them to win a championship in the next years. Would be an awesome story.

For real, I never thought the Knicks would become likeable in my lifetime but they really are a feel good team

Guess nba and the feds need to look at them offshore accounts for him and all the family memebers cause it sounds fishy as hell.

Oh, and imagine JB taking a 100m paycut and then dolan do dolan things and puts that money into a randle max and bertans

Lol on what planet was it possible for Brunson to leave the Knicks with his dad and 10 best friends and a city he owns. Were the Knicks gonna get outbid?

I watched FVV get slower. It's subtle. He ain't the same no mo at 30. You and me, we can re-visit this in 2028 when Brunson opts out. Let's see how you feel then. Book mark it!

His game is really dependent on footwork, what makes him difficult and awkward to guard is that he plays off two feet and pivots, which is unusual for a leftie and guys aren't used to all the moves being the opposite direction. He's herky jerky and drives to his right a lot, more than you'd expect from a left handed player. He turns failed drives into post ups too.

Your guy Kyle was an all-star at 33, his game should age well.

I'm more talking about as a whole. Tatum was already extremely unlikely to leave. Then he wins a title. Then this week you have D Mitchell and Brunson locking up.

FVV has never reached the heights Brunson has as scorer either lol. Sure, we can re-visit.
