Best 5 players over the past 25 years

as I have watched all of these guys for their whole careers, I would rank them:

1) LeBron
2) Duncan
3) Kobe (ist there a reason, why he was left off?)
4) Curry
5) Jokic

Imo, the other two, where you could have a discussion for top5 are Shaq (as my #6) and KD (#7)

Kobe was left off because he's not a serious candidate, as the low 'other' vote should make clear. He has been included in the 6-9 thread you can see, even though honestly I would have rather listed other guys.

If people wanted to vote Kobe the 'orher' option is right there. The fact is only 48 ppl have voted 'other, whereas the top 5 guys have between 191 and 244 votes. That makes it very clear I was correct in thinking Kobe was not a plausible top 5 candidate. Nor are all the 'other' votes for Kobe, with a number of posters having indicated they were using 'other' to preference the likes of Wade, Kawhi, Dirk, etc.

I think there's very little argument that Kobe is better than any of those 9 guys. The stats don't even think it's close. There are at least half a dozen guys who I'd have listed over Kobe that missed the cut.

I mean I've discussed some of the stats; it isn't close when you look at either stats or impact.

Peak for peak, I think Giannis was probably better than Duncan, though I know it's tough comparing players nearly 20 years apart.

I'd agree that comparing players 20 years apart is tough, and their games were also extremely different. My argument for how individually dominant Duncan was starts with that 2003 team. Seriously, look at that roster... I still can't believe he somehow carried that group to 60 wins and a championship. I don't think Giannis has reached the level Duncan played at that year.

If I am a owner or GM, I would look at Duncan, Jokic, Curry, Dirk type players. I don’t want to spend 20y with personnels like Lebron or Kobe for many reasons.

Because Shaq exists? And he played on Kobe's team for the first 8 years of his career including 3 titles and 4 finals runs, during which everyone overwhelmingly agreed Shaq was better.
