as I have watched all of these guys for their whole careers, I would rank them:

1) LeBron
2) Duncan
3) Kobe (ist there a reason, why he was left off?)
4) Curry
5) Jokic

Imo, the other two, where you could have a discussion for top5 are Shaq (as my #6) and KD (#7)

Kobe was left off because he's not a serious candidate, as the low 'other' vote should make clear. He has been included in the 6-9 thread you can see, even though honestly I would have rather listed other guys.

The spirit of Kobe is living rent free and walking around barefoot in the very smooth brain of the OP.

Warned for personal attack.

oh, I see whats going on here?
you left him off on purpose, so that you can push your narrative. do the same poll and have Kobe in it (instead of being in the "other" category). you´ll be surprised...

man, never thought, that I would ever be in a position to defend Kobe. :banghead:

If people wanted to vote Kobe the 'orher' option is right there. The fact is only 48 ppl have voted 'other, whereas the top 5 guys have between 191 and 244 votes. That makes it very clear I was correct in thinking Kobe was not a plausible top 5 candidate. Nor are all the 'other' votes for Kobe, with a number of posters having indicated they were using 'other' to preference the likes of Wade, Kawhi, Dirk, etc.

I think there's very little argument that Kobe is better than any of those 9 guys. The stats don't even think it's close. There are at least half a dozen guys who I'd have listed over Kobe that missed the cut.

I mean I've discussed some of the stats; it isn't close when you look at either stats or impact.

I'd agree that comparing players 20 years apart is tough, and their games were also extremely different. My argument for how individually dominant Duncan was starts with that 2003 team. Seriously, look at that roster... I still can't believe he somehow carried that group to 60 wins and a championship. I don't think Giannis has reached the level Duncan played at that year.

Agreed. 2003 was insanely impressive.

I missed this before, but Wade is a hard choice to justify over Giannis or KG imo.

Light warning for continuing to bump this thread.

If I am a owner or GM, I would look at Duncan, Jokic, Curry, Dirk type players. I don’t want to spend 20y with personnels like Lebron or Kobe for many reasons.

Yeah, there are lots of guys who get left out (Curry, Durant, Nowitzki, Bryant would be others) and, tbf, Wade is a bit of a homer pick on my part.

Why make it a poll if your opinion is the only one that matters? Might as well make only the 5 guys you personally think are it as the poll options.

SlimShady83 wrote:Man the hatred for Kobe Is real In this one :) :starwars

You NEVER see haters of other players make a poll like this and leave someone like Duncan, Lebron, etc off polls like this. It just shows you how delusional kobe haters hate, a special breed. This happens pretty regularly.

kobe curry and duncan jokic bron. Those guys set high bar for themselves and ensure that their teammates do the same. I dont know how you come up with anyone else to build around.

Because Shaq exists? And he played on Kobe's team for the first 8 years of his career including 3 titles and 4 finals runs, during which everyone overwhelmingly agreed Shaq was better.

Surprised how nobody brought up Chris Paul. Beloved by basically every single advanced stat. Pretty long career

I can only include 9 guys. It was a brutal cutting process. In fact Paul didn't make the 6-9 vote here

I personally would have listed him over Kobe, but was balancing who was better with who would get more votes.
