Zach Lowe got fired so Perk can yap on national tv. Such an abomination

It worked out for the better. Zach doesn’t have to pretend the Lakers are contenders anymore and only has to talk up the Celtics when he’s on with Bill now. He’s been releasing banger after banger since he got to The Ringer. His last episode with the monologue on Thibs/Knicks and Pacers preview with Caitlin Cooper was all time. Old school Lowe Post stuff.

I watch arena feeds that cuts the commercials and all the ESPN coverage. I get Christian and Scooby, Red Panda, and cheerleaders dancing.

Anyone dedicated enough to post on this website is already much more qualified than those hacks, muting the game during the half and reading the game thread is 10x more productive. Yeah, the bar is that low.

Even then I’ve watched minuscule clips of McAfee. I just can’t take a guy who wears a tank top 90% of the time on a national tv show seriously.

I always purposely avoided even watching clips of him because of that stupid tank top . Didn't really find out who he was until LeBron was a guest.

The B and C teams were laid off...this team couldn't start for a junior college.

They laid off everyone to pay SAS. He's the A team, popularity wise at least, although I don't know how yelling nonsense makes you a popular analyst

Of course, ESPN shows mostly commercials at halftime anyway. Don't know if they did this time, I won't watch SAS, ever.

I don’t really watch this half time crew. But I liked Bob Myers when I watched him.

Certainly, the appeal of sports commentary as reality TV for men, complete with fueds between hosts and scripted controversies

I prefer sports shows as complementary to the game rather than their own cinematic universes, but that's probably because I have a low diet for sports shows in general, since there's only so much you can say. I can see how the Jerry Springer aesthetic could garner a more regular viewership, but it's certainly for a different audience

Perkins makes sense because he played for OKC, Stephen A because he's their big personality and Bob Myers because he plays the "knowledgeable" personality

They fired Zach Lowe instead of Perk didn't they?

WTF you expect to see and hear?

Perkins is hated by OKC fans. His 8m/year contract is the reason they didnt have money for Harden. He was literally just a fat body to watch up Pau and Bynum.

Bob Myers is OK. I've had enough of Stephen A and Perk. How did the worse make it to the top?

ESPN believes drama, pop culture, hot takes, and arguments is what interests casual fans, and that they’re too dumb with attention spans too short to sit through ‘boring’ analysis, so they lean into the reality tv angle.

Haven't watched an ESPN halftime show in years. I mute it and find something else to do for 20 minutes. Fold laundry, take a shower, or just talk to my cool friends here at realgm.

I often miss the end of the 2nd quarter and beginning of the 3rd quarter because I throw some other show on as halftime is approaching. ESPN and TNT both. Just yikes.

I've never met one person who actually likes Stephen A. Smith, yet he gets paid like a superstar and is absolutely everywhere. I feel like I'm living in a different world than everyone else.

It's amazing ESPN chose to lay off smart people like JVG, Lowe, Simmons and simply decided to raise SAS salary from 12 to 20 Mil per year. :banghead:

I would much rather listen to the architect of one of the greatest teams in history, instead of a former player who was neither good or insightful, and is happy to say outlandish thinks for the sake of clicks.
