1. Ball handler and on ball scorer so you don't have to worry about getting it to him
2. Willing to shoot a lot when he's on
3. Able to get shots off against essentially any defense, and if he's actually hot from 3, then it's hard to think of a recent defense that has kept him from getting his 3 off.

2) As soon as the other team sees how inefficient he is, they'll let him get that shot even easier.
3) He's a good enough of a shooter than 50 points on a near unlimited number of shots is a given.
The other possibility is to just cherry pick your way to 50. In this case, Jokic isn't my shooter, but my long ball passer to a cherry picking big standing by the basket.

You need someone who can elevate and take a bad shot with reasonable chances of success, while also having the stamina to take like 60 of them.
I would expect such game to become a blowout with this guy scoring like 30 in the last quarter for a Booker like performance.

Even though Mitchell has scored 3 fifties in the playoffs, he can't choose when he's hot, so he can't just flick a switch and score 50 on call.
I'd go with a player who doesn't rely on hot shooting, yet someone who doesn't rely on getting to the paint (because the paint can be closed off).
So my choice would be the most consistent shooter in the NBA, Kevin Durant, he shot 53% last season and 43% downtown, and he can shoot OVER you.
And the only reason why Durant doesn't score 50s usually is because he doesn't want to and doesn't attempt enough shots, but he can attempt 25 or 35 very high-quality shots whenever he wants...

Did the OP ask if the player could average 50 in a series? Thought it was just one game, so why would the series matter?

Steph is my pick because of his shooting from deep and he has movement skills/ball handling required to get those shots up even with the attention.

Luka and Durant would be the next two. Luka can force it and he can monopolize the ball if necessary. KD can shoot over everybody.

I also considered LaMelo Ball because he can shoot from insane distance with little room while also being a great ball handler. The poor man's Curry strategy in this scenario.
