Scala's closer to Lebron than I am to him where basketball is concerned, that's for sure.

Scal was being modest. We're actually closer to Lebron than Lebron is to Scal.

You are correct.

Probably Lukas fat ass. He's the best combination of

1. Ball handler and on ball scorer so you don't have to worry about getting it to him
2. Willing to shoot a lot when he's on
3. Able to get shots off against essentially any defense, and if he's actually hot from 3, then it's hard to think of a recent defense that has kept him from getting his 3 off.

If the other team doesn't know? Then Jokic.
1) He's tall and can just shoot over the other team, so he won't get tired out.
2) As soon as the other team sees how inefficient he is, they'll let him get that shot even easier.
3) He's a good enough of a shooter than 50 points on a near unlimited number of shots is a given.
The other possibility is to just cherry pick your way to 50. In this case, Jokic isn't my shooter, but my long ball passer to a cherry picking big standing by the basket.

Yes, you know.

Your team could be down 140-48, your chosen guy makes a bucket and you win.

The opposite team doesn't know.

From the recent era. Could be current OKC, Spurs, GSW... you name it.

Your team consists of a bunch of cans, but you can choose ONE player, any player, from the current NBA roster. You could "clone" a player from the opposite team, even.

If your guy scores 50, you win the game.
And let's assume your guy is red hot that given night.

Who do you pick?

Can someone rewrite this in better than kindergarten English?

Isn't the answer logically Curry?

Gosh.
English is my 3rd tongue.
I get it: your language is one of the most economical and logical. Still tricky.

I know for sure is you can understand what I was trying to say with little effort.

Do the opposing team know that a 50 would win you the game?
Nobody in history can score 50 if the defense sells out to stop him.

Nope, they don't.

You have 48 minutes for the guy you choose to score 50 vs the best defensive team of the recent era you can think of.

Then I suspect it's probably jordon or Kobe.
You need someone who can elevate and take a bad shot with reasonable chances of success, while also having the stamina to take like 60 of them.
I would expect such game to become a blowout with this guy scoring like 30 in the last quarter for a Booker like performance.

Even though Mitchell has scored 3 fifties in the playoffs, he can't choose when he's hot, so he can't just flick a switch and score 50 on call.
I'd go with a player who doesn't rely on hot shooting, yet someone who doesn't rely on getting to the paint (because the paint can be closed off).
So my choice would be the most consistent shooter in the NBA, Kevin Durant, he shot 53% last season and 43% downtown, and he can shoot OVER you.
And the only reason why Durant doesn't score 50s usually is because he doesn't want to and doesn't attempt enough shots, but he can attempt 25 or 35 very high-quality shots whenever he wants...

Not if he's playing a top defense though.

He had 44 and 42 on OKC in the playoffs this year.

Cool, how was the rest of the series?

(Genuinely asking, I don't remember)

Did the OP ask if the player could average 50 in a series? Thought it was just one game, so why would the series matter?

Steph is my pick because of his shooting from deep and he has movement skills/ball handling required to get those shots up even with the attention.

Luka and Durant would be the next two. Luka can force it and he can monopolize the ball if necessary. KD can shoot over everybody.

I also considered LaMelo Ball because he can shoot from insane distance with little room while also being a great ball handler. The poor man's Curry strategy in this scenario.
