It was honestly most of the playoffs. I'm not sure what's going on with his shot.

It's not the first time he has had a slump shooting and wont be the last but he is far from a non shooter. It's really a weird narrative to make because nobody is calling him the best shoiter when he has a 20 to 25 game stretch shooting 45% from 3. A non shooter is a player that cant shoot not just a player in a slump. If we arent coming from the same reality than there is nothing to really talk about here.

I obviously don't think it's anything long term. But at the same time it's hard to look the other way and ignore his shot is in a rut right now.

Uhh, his mom publicly blasted the coaching staff and went full Karen demanding answers. She went beyond what even the most delusional HS parents do when their sweet little Jimmy isn't playing on the varsity team.

If Tatum doesn't publicly come out and slam his mom for her comments then it's basically like he said those things. Whether it's fair or not doesn't even matter, the cat is out of the bag now. His mom either overstepped in about the dumbest conceivable way, or just said out loud what Jayson was venting to her. Either way it's a horrific look that no coach wants near any kind of team. Youth coaches don't want that crap dealing with middle schoolers. Dealing with that crap with a 26 year old man who is on a 300 million dollar contract is just so next level pathetic and infuriating to even have to address.

Celtics just won a championship with ease and time of their best player cant get minutes while the 2nd best player didnt even make the team. Makes absolutely zero sense.

I have nothing against Tatum but think its hilarious that after the Celtics win the championship he gets almost no respect in any capacity, whether its MVP awards going to a teammate or DNP's in the Olympics. I hope he DNP's in the title game just for the drama it will keep going.

The "revenge tour" angle is also a double edged sword because the last thing this loaded Celtics superteam needs is Tatum trying to assert himself and prove something. Ditto for Jaylen Brown.

So Tatum is committing months for USA basketball (he doesn’t get paid) and you want to cut the dude bc his mom has an issue? You do realize these players normally get promises re playing time right? Embiid got a starter guarantee. Tatum is a top 10 player in this league. He’s not some bum. Tatum is a peak professional whose kept his mouth shut when he’s put in this super awkward position by team USA. Steve Kerr is an embarrassment to this country

1. Celtics fans
2. The city of Boston as a whole
3. Jayson Tatum
4. Jaylen Brown, who will take it as disrespect by proxy
5. Joe Mazzula in all likelihood
6. Countless NBA players active and inactive who have said as much on podcasts and social media
7. Apparently half of the people ITT, one way or the other

I understand your question was rhetorical and more just to communicate you personally don't care and think it doesn't matter, but there are enough people who clearly care and care a lot that it deserved a real reply.

walk with me wrote:Tatum SHOULDNT have played in that game because you needed to max Lebrons minutes as soon as we got down double digits. Lebron played 32 minutes, we needed his physicality on both ends and play making on offense. Tatum has shot horribly in this tournament and for Bron to be most effective he needs to be surrounded by shooters (Booker-Steph-KD)

Antman wasn’t ready for Serbias intensity so he looked bad but he’s shot well (in the tournament) and defended well in the tournament which is why he’ll never get a DNP.

If we had a comfortable lead throughout the game Tatum would have got some minutes but his offense is far too inconsistent to be trusted in a single elimination scenario. What he brings on defense doesn’t compensate for what he lacks on offense with most groups we put out yesterday.

As soon as we got down by 10 Kerr tightened the rotation. At that point we only subbed guys in to give the 5 that finished a rest.

I’m fascinated by people who think Tatum should play and that he would make the team better. His static offensive and lack of physicality at the rim vs Serbia in a game with maximum roughness allowed (on both sides) would surely be a negative. Yeah he’d help on defense but on the other end we’re basically playing 4-5. In a 1 and done you can’t risk that.

Tatum fans just need to realize the perception of Tatum isn’t the reality…

What perceptoion?

He isn’t a three-team all nba first team player, two times in the finals and one time champion?

In what reality do you liver in that booker and Edwards are better than Tatum? I get it, LeBron and KD are there at the 4. But they can play Tatum, LeBron and KD on the floor.

Kerr is just fascinated with Booker and doesn’t know how to coach position less basketball.

Then why were LeBron and Durant sitting home? Replace Tatum with either and USA still wins.

And this isnt playing over those two, it is Booker playing way too much.

None of those people matter in the Olympics. I literally don't give a **** about Celtics fans. I am sure Kerr doesn't either. He needs to be focus on winning the gold medal.

Um…yea? Booker has played his role perfectly and Ant was literally leading us in scoring up until this game

You aren’t “owed” anything in this league. Winning a title on a stacked team against an injured/weak east isn’t anything special. And beating the Mavericks was about the easiest matchup they could’ve asked for.

Tatum was outplayed by his own teammate for 2 trophies. He shot 24% from 3. Countless ill advised shots. But they still won. He’s been on a very long slump. Team USA now and he’s hitting the side of the backboard, missing layups. He played himself onto that bench.

Maybe Kerr throws him a bone and let’s him play tomorrow when we are up 15+. But if it’s a close game, expect another DNP.

They dropped the ball then. Hali and Tatum should never have been on the roster. Should have been high level role players if Kerr can’t play more than 10 players.

Actually, Team USA got to the gold medal game in spite of Kerr. Any other NBA coach would have seen this team winning easily in every game. Kerr sucks. he's so blinded by his preferences, that he almost caused the best team in the world to lose to a team that has one NBA level All-star. The only thing I can agree with Kerr about is when he called himself an idiot. 100% accurate!!!

You can’t run a functional offense without spacing. Tatum is unwilling to take shots from 3 right now, Booker and Ant will take them. This isn’t rocket science.
