Curry and Thomson fit better together

Definitely a possibility depending on what happens with Blake and if they can move DJ.

Have to admire Morey's ability to Chase and land big fish. Harden, Dwight (big fish at that time), and now cp3. The fact that he is doing this in Houston and not a "destination" city such as LA or Miami makes it that much more impressive.

Not sure why people are worried about touches. With D'antoni's pace, there will be plenty of time for CP3/Harden to dominate the ball. Moving Harden off the ball could be a good thing and will let him conserve a bit of his energy for the defensive end.

The saving grace for Houston is that they're not giving up much, but this trade is a really bad fit. It also pretty much secures Kawhi Leonard or Russell Westbrook as MVP next season also. Maybe Giannis can sneak in there.

Surely now rockets will have no space to sign anybody else?

Lawson was already TERRIBLE when he went to the rockets.

Harden wasn't a ball dominant before he started being the ''leader'' in Houston. If Westbrook-Harden-Durant worked, Chris Paul & Harden can make this easily. Harden playing SG sounds great.

Westbrook-Harden-KD is a completely different time and scenario. It worked because Harden was still young and accepted his role on the bench and as a 3rd option for the team overall. KD has never been overly ball dominant due to being so elite at the catch and shoot off picks and from 3, so he also never clogged up their offense too much. Now that Harden has a taste of the alpha ball dominant play and the numbers that come with it, we can't be so sure that he will revert back to his younger days as a more off-ball option (check my last post, even as a SG he was posting some of the highest time-of-possession numbers in Houston). I don't think this is a "bad" pairing or one they should not love to have (it's without question an upgrade for Houston to have two guys that skilled), but it's not going to be without serious growing pains.

Also - All NBA D teams be damned - I don't think Paul has nearly the same day to day defensive intensity as he used to, and that was something Beverly offered them/Harden. It's possible we see more than a few nights where they will be brilliantly offensively, and not even out-produce the opposing PG/SG combo.

I'm not worried about fit at all. Dominant iso scorers with low B-Ball IQ can't work together. Harden and Paul have two of the highest b-ball IQ in the NBA, they will not only figure it out, but will expand on each other's game.

Best part, CP3 and Har_en are on the same team. Two birds on one stone now :D

He lost to Curry in 2015 because of team success and then he lost to Westbrook for individual success. I think there are very few scenarios where was going to win anyways

Actually Durant/Curry/Kawhi lost to Westbrook this year because of individual success. One of those 3 should win if you want to reward team success.

I don't know why you're bringing those 3 up. Did they all finish as a clear 2nd this past year and in 2015? It was a race between Harden and Westbrook this past year and between Harden and Curry in 2015

Obviously there will be diminished returns since their skills overlap but this definitely improves the team. Will be interesting to watch for sure.

Laugh it up all you want. We're finally stepping off the treadmill, so I'm happy.

I actually like this deal for the Clips more tbh. Beverly, Williams & a 1st is good value. The team was better off moving away from Paul with his age & recent injury history. Clipper fans should love this move.
