This is incorrect.
LeBron has never had a regular season with more than 4 triple doubles as a member of the Heat. In 2010-2011, he had 4. In 2011-2012 (the season they beat the Thunder for the title), he didn't have any triple-doubles. Last year, he had four.

Basically, the guys left about 100 triple doubles on the table in his career.

Is there a "near triple-double" stat or way to calculate that without going through each season's game-log? I think I saw a few weeks back posters were mentioning the amount of near one's LeBron's had.
I'd be interested in seeing those numbers for him, Kidd, Magic, Jordan, etc.

LeBron's had 87 games with at least 9 in each category: http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... der_by=pts
He's had 47 triple-doubles, so I guess that's 40 "near triple-doubles." In 30 of those he had 10+ in two categories and 9 in the other.

At this point, the regular season just isn't nearly as important for LeBron as it is for Durant. He's been in the league for 4 more years, he's 3-4 years older, and he's coming off back to back championships. He's clearly in cruise control mode, but despite the fact his numbers are down from where they usually are in most categories (although not by THAT much) he's still shooting a ridiculous 59 percent from the field. So it's not as if he's been struggling, he's just been coasting a little. Who knows if that will change in the second half, but either way I feel it's KD's time and he's clearly placing a lot more importance on the regular season than LeBron. Why shouldn't he? He's yet to win a single MVP, LeBron's been there and done that 4 times.
I still think LeBron is in a class by himself and is the best player in the world by a fair margin. That might change in a few years but not for now IMO. I think it's kind of like when Jordan lost out on the MVP to Barkley and then Malone a few years later. Just because he wasn't the MVP, doesn't mean he wasn't still the best player in the league.

Not quite as good as Curry's 54/6/7/3/87% TS against NY last year.
