But if you are an away team, your player doesn’t have to be vaccinated. What is it that they are trying to achieve? If this was really about public health, you would have one set of rules for everyone. Is Kyrie more contagious than Beal? Both are not vaccinated. You allow one to play in Barclays and not the other. The whole thing is absurd

Yah I don’t get why away players that are unvaccinated can play but home players can’t. What’s the logic in that ?

Logic doesn't exist in these decisions.

because they dont want out of state people to be forced to be vaccinated in order to come due to "states rights" i guess is their logic. The difference between practicing and playing in an arena full of people does make a bit more sense.

the first part i dont like though, player from a state with tons of covid has a higher chance of having it and infecting others than irving whos in a stricter state. I would be more concerned with a player doing a texas road trip then coming to ny than kyrie tbh. maybe im just trippin though

I cant wait to see what he change his name to. Ali gave himself the most common first and last name on the planet. KAI gonna get really creative with it.

In a player-led league where the players have most of the leverage their front office needs to appear player friendly or they will suffer in free agency down the road. I'm sure that what lead them to do this.

Will be interesting down the road if they change their position on this if he doesn't get vaccinated. The Nets are almost certainly crossing their fingers that losing 1/2 his pay and negatively impacting his teammates will ultimately weigh on him and coerce him into getting vaccinated. If winter turns into spring and he's still not vaccinated I bet they apply more pressure and suspend all of his pay. They probably realize that he's not needed for most of the season but they need him to be fully playing and physically ready for the playoffs.

nbapa could file a grievance b/c a team can tell a player to stay home but they can't refuse to pay him.

They're still paying him for the games he is eligible to play in so I don't think any grievance can be filed.

They could suspend him, though. His actions are detrimental to the team, etc. They're trying to have it both ways.

its about principle. Just like how it is against the law to step on a piece of cloth....the USA Flag. Or perhaps you don't disagree that stepping on a country's flag shouldn't be a problem?

Totally rational to compare the American flag to a painted leprechaun players already walk on the whole game

Nobody died for that leprechaun. I promise you.

If you eliminate the flag...does the country disappear. So without the old stars and stripes noone would have died...?

Why would the Sixers want that. As big of a headache as Simmons has been, he still pales in comparison to Kyrie. Maybe is Simmons had stuck to his guns with not playing until there is a trade... maybe the Sixers would have considered it. But now that he's gonna play, why would you want Kyrie when he's barely going to be eligible to play in half the games this season (and the foreseeable future)?

Kyrie is disgruntled, Simmons is disgruntled. Kyrie can play all the games in Philly he would just miss the Knicks and Nets.

I’m assuming Simmons would be more ready to listen to guys like Nash, KD and Harden over Embiid. Simmons gets a reboot and Kyrie avoids missing 41 home games.

Neither has too much trade value as is. The Nets get worse but they get a player who isn’t limited to half the games and has something to prove.

How is it over? People are still getting it and ending up in hospitals.

Hospital ICUs are overwhelmed with unvaccinated Covid patients, but the "pandemic is over." :banghead:

Second Brooklyn doesn't even need him. The team is still ridiculously stacked and are favorites

They are stacked, but without Kyrie, they are definitely a notch down. They have gone to guaranteed championship barring injury to a contender now.

Kyrie's getting half of his salary for doing absolutely nothing but staying at home is kinda genius.

Think of all the birthday parties he can go to. The dude will get paid half salary and not have to do a thing. He's in heaven

An injury to either Harden or Durant is just so much more damaging without Kyrie. That's the big difference to me.

They’re really gonna argue him not getting vaccinated is conduct detrimental to the team? I mean it’s a vague clause and they can take that to arbitration, but that to me is a line in the sand for the players association.

Kyrie has a personal belief about vaccinations and he signed his contact with the nets before the state (not national) vaccine mandate. They can not pay him for the play missed due to New York’s state laws, but I’m not sure how they get around paying him for games he’s willing and able to play in other states. It would be a pretty big stretch of “conduct detrimental to the team”.
