So basically they are hated because they are successful? Is that right?
That and the fact that 99% of Duke fans
1. Have never set foot in North Carolina much less been near the campus.
2. Don't know of anyone who has ever attended the school.
OOOoorrrr... as i said in my previous post, to those like me who aren't from the states and started watching ncaa before the age of internet streaming, its because Duke games were the ones being shown a lot by espn. I mean, we watched whats was free on t.v. DIdnt have extra cash to pay for "extras" in cable companies. Lol
Blame espn.
This is very true.
Dick Vitale would basically just drool all over himself every Saturday on
the Duke basketball channel CBS which broadcast a handful of NCAA men's games that day (in which Duke was a guaranteed participant).
It didn't help that the stars of the team that Dickie V was gushing about were almost always spoiled brats (Danny Ferry, Jay Bilas, Christian Laettner, Bobby Hurley, Cherokee Parks, Chris Collins, Wojo, Battier, Jay Williams, Mike Dunleavy, Boozer, Duhon, Jon Scheyer, Austin Rivers, Grayson Allen) and you would hear about them incessantly.
As far as the TV thing the same thing could be said about Notre Dame football on NBC when they basically decided to become their private national broadcaster after the film Rudy came out. There was nothing better than the years that Notre Dame was terrible and NBC had locked itself in to broadcasting the awfulness nationally for an entire season
