I rather let Dwigth walk for nothing than trade him for this package.

Not really, I just dont want Gasol on my team. Why the hell would any team want a 31 year old pf who is already starting to decline and gets paid 20 million when you already have a good center who is a hell of a lot cheaper and younger? And if this trade goes down, why the hell would we trade Pekovic for Martin or Klay? Pekovic right now is worth more than those two. If you think im overrating pekovic in that instance, then you simply havent seen pekovic play the last month. the dude is a beast.

C'mon now Martin would fit perfectly with Minny, Pek has been good but he hasn't been that good to not give up for a SG in NEED like Martin.

I'll agree that Martin is probably not worth Pekovic ( though I object to your 35 mpg criticism, as there's no reason for Martin to do that given how strenuous this lockout season is especially since we have a great backup in Lee), but Gasol is these days seriously underrated as everyone's obsessed with youth. I don't see him falling off worse than KG, whom even today is a good player. He'll still be fine at 32, 33. He's big and has the footwork, I'd still easily do a Scola-Martin deal for Gasol.
But do you know what they call a fool, who's full of himself and jumps into the path of death because it's cool?

Wolves fans overrating their players? I'm actually a Bucks supporter, but I try to watch all the teams. In Rubio, Love, and possibly Pekovic the Wolves have three players who are among the best at their respective positions. Love is already regarded by many experts as maybe the best power forward in the NBA. Only Steve Nash and maybe Jeremy Lin have Rubio's court vision. Mainly due to Rubio the Wolves are a .500 team and have equaled their win total for all of last year. According to their pts scored against pts allowed, they should be over .500. Yes, and Nikola Pekovic last years benchwarmer. It's not just because of his ability to score points and rebounds against everybody including Howard, he fits in well with the team. And that's why the Wolves don't want to break up the chemistry between their top three players. Everybody else is disposable. The one question is the development of D. Williams. The management is holding their collective breaths hoping he comes along. If he does, then the Wolves only have to get a consistent scoring and defending two guard to make bigger waves. They don't want a player like Gasol who cannot play together at the same time with Love and Pekovic.

Yep this trade does not clear bad contracts, and I don`t see any type of picks. Andrew Bynum is a guy who has skeleton problems and is due for a big contract.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1184609/2/index.htm

Trainers learned that Bynum underwent his first knee operation when he was 12 and were concerned about his Q angle—the relationship between his pelvis, leg and foot. According to head athletic trainer Gary Vitti, a wide Q angle can affect the way the kneecap glides along the thigh bone and can also cause increased foot pronation, both common sources of injuries. "Andrew is challenged in terms of his skeleton," Vitti says. "But we can work with those issues to some degree. What you can't do is take someone with a normal Q angle and make him 7 feet, 285 pounds."

Derrick Williams is a tweener, who I don`t like as a player.

They may have said that, but might've changed their minds after what they've gone through thus far this season. It's not as if proclamations like that are set in stone. What's more, they did that assuming that Dwight would try forcing a trade by claiming that he'd only play for the Lakers, and that's not happening. I say why not swing for the fences? It's worked for them before.

i hear what you're saying, and there is valid logic there...

but to me, if the Lakers make this move they are continuing to forget (aside from Kobe) whats made them so formidable in recent years... superior front court...

Dwight is a beast but he's only one guy...

what made the Lakers unbeatable was throwing Bynum/Gasol/Odom at you...

this move leaves them with only DH... the Lakers should go after dwight but not for both Gasol and Bynum both... it's just sacrificing too much front court...

Dwight for the best F,C (Gasol) and the 2nd best center (Bynum) is paying a kings ransom and moves them backwards imo...

nobody is overrating anybody here. If you knew how good Pek has been playing lately you'd understand what the Wolves fans are saying.

Plus Pau Gasol contract is huge 18 million a season?

I agree. The Lakers get worse short-term with this trade and I have no idea if Dwight would re-sign in a situation no better than Orlando.

Nj's deal is faaaar better than this for Orlando.
Ahhh yeah keep making yourself believe that kid. The minute you said Brooks was better than Williams, basketball IQ sunk to levels of transparent.

It is amazing how people actually say that bynum and gasol made the lakers gods the lst few years. When in reality bynum was a no show for the lakers in both their title runs. Bynum only ot good and consistent THIS year. Considering that this trade better not happen.. this does not make the lakers better. Ithelps them with money though... As gasol was making mire than dwight.

That depends on whether we are talking about an extended Dwight or one that can leave this offseason. Suppose this rumor has any weight and we are talking about a half year rental there is no reason for the Lakers to eat Hedo's contract even if the TPE allows it. If Dwight gets extended in the trade then that's a different scenario.
