Then teams will just trade someone, with an underlying agreement for that team to dump him to someone who wants to waive them, and voila they are back for nothing. It would take a little more work, but it could be done.

Do you see how difficult would that be? First you do that because you want clear up cap space and said player is taking up a lot, so you need to first find a team that is willing to eat up the cap space, not counting anything being sent back. THEN u need another team that is also able to eat the cap space, send something back, and planning to waive the said player. that's asking a lot for two teams to help a title contender.

That's like saying oh teams will just sign their MVP calibre player cheap after some lingering injury so they can sign another MVP calibre player AND have DPOY player AND one of the best spot up shooter in th team. It's easier said than done

And the team that waives him is still going to end up actually paying him. And the team benefiting from all this can't compensate them in any way to make it worth their while. The proposed exploit is really farfetched.

I don't consider it a loophole. I consider it consistent with the reason for the rule.

The rule was created to stop a guy from being traded, cut, and then immediately resigned. Here, he was traded to Dallas, traded again and then cut. He can't sign with Dallas but I would be fine with GS.

Is Bogut actually better than Zaza?

Can Warriors fans comment on this?

Think he would need to have bad feelings if he signed for cavs...would like to think he wouldn't go to the team that he suffered from last year but who knows.

I wouldn't say he suffered due to the Cavs per se because he got hurt; however, the aforementioned injury played a factor in GSW letting him go. That may have stung. Eh, who knows...

They let him and Barnes go to get Durant. That is a no brainer. I don't think Barnes or Bogut could be mad about that. Every team would do that move.

When Bogut was injured in the Finals it was a different series. He was an X factor so it would be huge to have him back w/ the Warriors.

Way more athletic than Zaza, blocks shots, finishes a lot of lobs for dunks.

Zaza can shoot the elbow jumper if left alone and can shoot the FTs decently.

But Bogut is horrible at FT so they will hack him, which means Warriors go small in crunch time. He averaged about only 20 minutes a game and was often injured. But he'd also get them to a great start, by blocking shots leading to transition points.

But a team who is over the cap can keep signing players?

Yes and have to pay luxury tax for doing so.

You think the Players Union would let the NBA go to a hard cap? Not a chance unless the hard cap is raised massively. Otherwise you wouldn't be seeing deals so huge like you are now.

While it would be interesting and even fun to see it happen, I'm sure the league would step in and follow the 'spirit' of the rule rather than a different interpretation of it

Bogut isnt blocking shots this year like he has previously but I love Bogut and I would love to see him back at GS. Would love to have a center rotation of Bogut/Zaza/McGee/Green.

This is not really something anyone should be worried about in any way shape or form. That's way too much going on for it to even be a thing to worry about.

Ring chasers have been a historical tradition in the NBA. Youre a Laker fan, you should know that

No disputing that. But I was referring to this specific rule, which was started because of the cavs and big Z.

He will surely sign back with GS. Pretty much wraps up the title for them.
