They remind me of a march madness underdog team, overachieving due to better coaching, chemistry and intangibles.

Lol at OP
Pacers prob won't ever win a ring tbh. You need a superstar caliber player on your roster (top-8 guy at the very least) and they don't have one. They've had a really incredible run for a 4-Seed and they deserve a lot of credit, but they very predictably blew it tonight in large because they don't have a superstar player to help them close out games. Their season is over.

A young version of 2020, 2023 Miami Heat, maybe a little better. Several decent to good players but not very good/great guys.

I think they'll get at least 1 championship within the next 5 yrs or so.

Re: Pacers dynasty ?
Dynasty? No but, I’d be thrilled to get a chip. Assuming Turner gets resigned this summer Pacers project a nice window for contention. Keep plugging away over the next 2-3 seasons and maybe the basketball gods bless them.
It’s hard to acquire the “it player” that can with the help of other good players deliver at the highest level. In Hali I think Pacers have a player like that. This franchise has never had a player of that caliber.

Under the hard cap, it's difficult to keep a deep competitive core. Turner is not on contract year soon. You never know how things may look like by next contract. If you're in spot to win anything, act immediately before it's too late.
Only Wemby team or Jokic team or SGA team are on dynasty mode right now with key players on similar age in prime and bunch of 2-way players. Indy, Boston is close, though. Minny, Houston, Dallas may get a window for next couple of years.

All these critical depth pieces are locked in for multi year deals , and of course siakam hali locked in
They just have a decision to make on Turner. Matherin is locked in next year and then he is the one depth guy that contract is up after next year
But everyone else ? Nembhard just locked in to a great value deal until 28-29 Mcconnel up 30-31., toppin 28-29.. Neismith and Sheppard locked into value deals till 27-28
And guys like jarace walker and Enrique freeman on ice on rookie deals who can play
They have a first round draft pick this year, and 3 second round draft picks this year
The front office has been absolute nails.
The only upgrades for this team could be better rebounding big,, and maybe more free throw/iso driver half court guys since Matherin and siakam are the only ones
They probably keep Turner due to his history with the team and not to mess with a good thing, but could be argued that he is replaceable with that large contract and some of his limitations
To be very honest, Hali is #2 and Siakam is #3 on a real championship team. So Pacers are still missing a #1 to be consider a dynasty.

In a vacuum, Siakam should be good enough to be a championship 2, as he was in 2019, and I don't believe he is any worse now. Hali is a unicorn of a #1, and so I think it's fair to have doubts about him seeing as he's not an all-nba self-creator like the other guys. I think they just have to hope for internal development from Hali/Mathurin/Nembhard and assume that sooner or later they get back here. *assuming a loss

Siakam was not #2 on 2019 Raptors, that team had no clear #2. Kawhi was clear #1 and after him the drop in quality was huge. They had bunch of #3s like Lowry, Siakam and Fred. Kawhi carried the whole team and also luck comes in huge for them to win that championship. By the time they won, Kawhi was fed up for carrying the team so much. I remember in one of the games Kawhi had done all the hard work and Siakam had to just make his FTs in the end to win the game, and he botched them to send the game to OT
Anyway point is Siakam was never #2, and Hali's game is definitely not #1 type. They need a true #1. If they fail to win this year, then they should seriously think about trading Siakam + fillers for a true #1.

They aren't trading Pascal; he's performed to well that it would look really bad. Beyond that, the only upgrade would be someone like Giannis and they would be giving away way to much.
Similar to the Raptors, the Pacers design is that a lot of different players are going to be taking a lot of shots, so even if he's not quite a #2 it hopefully won't matter here in the long run

The pacers have not even been pushed this playoffs until now
The finals has consistently had rematches and the same few teams. Could easily be OKC vs Indiana again next year
Sure the new cap makes it harder , except when you already have your contracts locked in and depth unlike the nuggets did.
The club is very opposite of Celtics iso ball.
Definitely can see a golden state type run for Indiana , or Spurs. And many don't consider them dynasties, only the bulls. But pacers can be in the finals mix for next five years.
This is definitely false. The last rematch that I can remember is GS vs Cleveland in 2018. Since then with all the cap rules changes, we haven't had rematches in the finals much less the same team making it back to the finals 2 years in a row.

The fact that they are getting nothing from Turner is remarkable. That's the core piece you could use to upgrade and his contract is up. I'm letting him walk
