Media always pumps LeBron nonstop throughout the season and he never ends up winning it. His last MVP was 8 years ago.

Story of his life. As a foreigner I struggle to understand how come all the supposed antagonists just play along with this. A narrative is put forth, for example ADavis last year was to be only a DPOY candidate even though he led Lakers in just about everything, and not a single league or media person disputed that. Durant and Curry were mutually excluded from the MVP race but same doesnt apply to Lebron/Davis, nobody is pointing this out, not even those who have their interests directly hurt. I was reading an ESPN "article" today under the title "Can anybody steal the MVP from Lebron". What kind of machine is this?

Teams are in a reactive position when Embiid does this and have to foul him. Or get out of his way. They choose to foul him. Which isn’t a good idea cause it puts sixers in bonus earlier and Embiid is making his usual 80% from free throw line.

While Embiid isn’t Shaq. And never will be. If shaq had only learn to shoot free throws at a 70% clip. The Lakers would have 6 titles with shaq.

He is definitely more aggressive this year driving towards the basket. However I still for the life of me don't understand why he insists on posting up fifteen feet away from the hoop. Get your ass on the block big man! Nobody can stop you down there.

His free throw shooting is huge.

Two reasons. One, it's easier for the opposing team to double him in that small area. Two, unlike eras of the past, the game is called differently in space. He's much more likely to get a foul call at 15 feet in, rather than under the basket. Embiid gets clobbered under the basket, and like Shaq, they don't call it because he's bigger than everybody. Embiid doesn't want to be doubled, and he wants fouls called, so he posts where he thinks he gets more bang for his buck.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

They will finish 1st or 2nd. And KD cant win mvp with 2 other superstars and the best big 3 ever. So embiid is only competing against western conf folks for mvp.

If he stays healthy he has a good shot.

Division series have barely played out. They won't even finish above Us, Milwaukee, and maybe even Boston by the time it's said and done. Save this post

I don't think Embiid's gonna win but you guys are resting a lot and have played the most home games in the league. I wouldn't be surprised if Philly is top 3 given the motivation from last season's end

Im completely shocked that Bucks already have 8 losses......not even 20 games in

They have the 2nd best Srs and best offense. Maybe its taking Jrue longer than i thought to get used to it

thought theyd be 1 seed comfortably. Theyll still roll but this start has been strange

Giannis might not make top 5 Mvp voting if this keeps up

If Stephs stays healthy i guarantee he’ll make a big push for it. For someone that has won 3 chips and 2 MVPs hes kind of been an afterthought to this season. He’s still incredibly good and always gets better the more and more he’s in the flow with the team. They are what like 3-1 in their last 4. And started 0-2. When you watch the games you can feel that energy growing from this team night in and night out and it’s all built from everyone’s belief in curry as a transcendent player. His teammates are locked in. It’s great to see actually been a while since we’ve seen this. They started 11-9, 0-2 start with no Dray. And he’s rounding back into shape now. This going to be fun watching this pendulum swing the next 8-10 weeks

How? He had better team record last year and significantly better individual stats last year. I wouldn't have mind if he won it last year but now? Some of the worst numbers of his career and Lakers are crushing it because they have the strongest team in the league in terms of the supporting cast. Still not the best team though. Other guys who put up better numbers and better records should be leading and none of them are "AND IT IS NOT EVEN CLOSE".

LOL, Luka hasn't been in the race since pre-season. Started off awful, has since turned it around but his team has sucked the whole time.

To me there are 2 early leaders in this race and they have clearly separated themselves from the pack:

Embiid and Jokic

All the other guys' MVP campaigns are really flawed. Either due to team record or because they're just not (and very likely will not) standing out enough on their respective teams (Lebron/AD, Kawhi/PG13, Harden/Durant, Tatum/Brown, ...). Voters fatigue will kick in for Giannis. Players with an outside chance to me at this point:

Lillard (if he can keep it up and McCollum misses enough time), Curry (if GSW can move to 5th seed or better). But for them to win it, Jokic and Embiid need to drop off.

Embiid, Jokic, and Kawhi in some order, then a gap.
