Teams are in a reactive position when Embiid does this and have to foul him. Or get out of his way. They choose to foul him. Which isn’t a good idea cause it puts sixers in bonus earlier and Embiid is making his usual 80% from free throw line.
While Embiid isn’t Shaq. And never will be. If shaq had only learn to shoot free throws at a 70% clip. The Lakers would have 6 titles with shaq.
He is definitely more aggressive this year driving towards the basket.
However I still for the life of me don't understand why he insists on posting up fifteen feet away from the hoop. Get your ass on the block big man! Nobody can stop you down there.
His free throw shooting is huge.
Two reasons. One, it's easier for the opposing team to double him in that small area. Two, unlike eras of the past, the game is called differently in space. He's much more likely to get a foul call at 15 feet in, rather than under the basket. Embiid gets clobbered under the basket, and like Shaq, they don't call it because he's bigger than everybody. Embiid doesn't want to be doubled, and he wants fouls called, so he posts where he thinks he gets more bang for his buck.
