Ofcourse, did you watch the playoffs? He led a skeleton crew Knicks team versus a contender ...the Sixers. With a full strength Knicks team he could certainly do the same against the a Celtics team that hasnt really proven much on their way to the finals.

The 6ers were soft. They would’ve lost to Indiana even if we hadn’t beaten them.

The guys has done nothing but improve every single year he’s been in the league, (and has an MIP as evidence) to the extent that he’s a 2 time All NBA player, who spearheaded the resurgence of the Knicks franchise to the best team in 20 years.

Just say you don’t know what the f*ck you’re talking about and keep it moving.

This is just objectively false. Randle had an insane regression the season immediately after winning most improved player lol. Like what are we even talking about here with this nonsense of "improved every year"?

The Knicks have elevated because brought in Thibs who has instilled an identity, and for once their FO has targeted quality role players, made a few savvy trades, and one of the best FA signings ever in Brunson. And aside from Bogdanovic trade (which was just flipped into Bridges), all the other players targeted fit Thibs vision so their coaching staff/FA is obviously in lockstep. That's what has elevated them. Randle is along for the ride.

So the guy who salmost singlehandely led his team to the 4th seed in playoffs just a few years earlier, who is also a 3 time allstar, and a 2 time all nba player is just "along for the ride."?

Cmon mate you can’t be this simple ?

I’m making the point that Thomas had a better year than Curry in 2017 even though Curry had a better career up until that point & was still regarded as the better player.

I used that as an example for the Tatum/Brunson debate. You can make a case that Brunson had a better year but one year doesn’t put him over Tatum.

Cmon mate..you are cheery picking Isiah Thomas 2.0 to prove Jalen Brunson is some kind of fluke. Brunson is better now and since we live in the present (not the hot tub time machine) he's better period.

Their paths are very similar actually.
- Both second round picks that played 3 years in college.
- Were 6th man/secondary options for the first couple of years of their career.
- Got traded/signed to a perfect situation for them at around 26/27 that allowed them to thrive.
- Made all-NBA honours & MVP votes the second year of their tenture with that team.

I think the top contenders are the Celtics, Nuggets, and Thunder.

Knicks are in the next tier with other strong contenders like the Wolves, Bucks, and Mavericks.

Fortunately for Brunson there's no "career altering hip injury" bullet here.

Even though they got better from what was basically an ECF team if they weren’t decimated with injuries, I don’t view them as a top tier contender cus the East got better and they don’t have the top end starpower that other teams do.

I would not put them in the same tier as Nuggets, Thunder or Mavs in the West or Celtics and even maybe Sixers or Bucks in the East.

Brunson is great but a lot of these other teams have 2+ players who can explode offensively when sets break down.

Right and the Knicks have 3 plus the best wing defender in the league , best offensive rebounder in the league, plus one of the deepest benches.

You did up until Dallas. Miami with Butler is a non playoff team, Cavs without Mitchell and Jarrett Allen ..playin at best, Indy without Haliburton non playoff/playin team.
Not their fault but yeah ...cupcake.

Mitchell played 3 games.
Haliburton got injured in the 3rd quarter of game 2 when we were up by 10.

Averaging 32 points on 27 shots & 9 free throw attempts a game is actually quite average when you think about it.

LOL a hurt Mitch for half a series while missing their best big too. Indy a faux contender and with Hali missing games is no threat....stop it.
