The best thing that's happened to the Nets in a long time.

Deron-JJ-Wallace-Teletovic-Lopez...that's a pretty good starting lineup.

Still kind of bummed that the D12 chase looks like it's over, lol.

Houston gonna risk taking him on a one year loaner? Figured LA had a chance to convince him to stay, not so much Houston.

i think it might be more than that. Scola probably doesn't fit their team anymore and K-Mart too since they're trying to rebuild and be a big player next offseason again.

Yeah, I know. Which is why we're going to be a middling playoff team at best. But at least we have Evans off the bench, and JJ and Wallace are both good rebounders at their positions. Hopefully, Lopez improves his rebounding and gets back to the 8-9 rpg mark. And maybe the Nets can go after someone like K-Mart. Who knows. Still a lot better than the last 5 years.

I think Morey is under pressure.

He is accumulating assets and miring in mediocrity for a few years now. He has swung and missed on many many potential superstars. He desperately needs a new franchise player.

It does not look likely that another one will be available anytime soon. Atleast not of Howards caliber.

And he has enough assets to gamble on Dwight resigning.

With Brooklyn out of the equation I can see him going for it.

seems like this trade could def be done without LAL involved...all they give up is bynum, mcroberts and crappy picks for howard and taking on jrich (18M/3yr) and duhon (small contract like 1.5M/year)? rockets are are giving up a ton of assets for having to settle for bynum...doesnt surprise me that theyre working the phones to unload scola for some picks and small contracts.

Is there even a real risk in "renting" Dwight? His only preferred destination won't be able to sign him next year. I say wherever he goes will be where he stays, whether it be Houston, LA, Atlanta, etc.

Houston has so many assets, they could absorb salary, deal out a bunch of assets, get Dwight and still have enough to squeeze out a decent team.

i gotta agree with this...dwight lost a ton of leverage after nj acquired JJ and gerald wallace. esp if he goes to a team that will already have talent (Atl/LAL), i cant see him walking away. with houston, its possible tho bc they will seriously be depleting their roster to get howard and they will prob be worse off than the magic were this past season.

Two things. The Lakers taking on J-Rich is a pretty big deal in this trade.

Also, Houston may be more inclined to take Bynum, because it has been reported that Bynum sees Houston as a possible destination during next year's free agency. So they would be getting a sure thing with Bynum compared to a possible rental in Howard. That being said, I don't see Dwight walking away from $30 mil to not play in Brooklyn so if he lands in Houston, I could see him staying there.

I wouldn't see Houston want to mortage all their picks for a rental. Bynum would be more likely to resign there.

yeah i see your point on Jrich...must be why the rockets are trying to unload scola right now hoping to get an expiring and/or picks so they could take on his deal. the good thing abt houston for howard tho is that its still a huge market and he'll be "the man".
