The thunder announcers have called him Pokachu and Porzingis. Poker is definitely a possibility.

The reason he looks better on the court lately is because he handles the ball much more , that's his game, he's a 7 foot guard basically, he still makes lots of mistakes, air balling threes, but there is potential there , hopefully he will get stronger and add some quality mass, he looks physically fragile right now.

This was Giannis in his rookie season

Giannis always had large strong frame, he grew a lot after getting drafted. If Pokusevski gets to 220lbs it'll be a miracle I think. Definitely a hot take tho.

While op’s take may not come true, for reference Giannis averaged 6.8 ppg while playing 24 minutes a night in his rookie season. Just saying. Poku can be a good starter averaging 20 & 10

This take is too hot for me and I am a huge Poku guy. I think he can be the 2nd best player on a championship team if he develops well. The kid has a craftiness to his offensive game that is just really rare, and almost unheard of when you consiter his size. Its a special, almost drunken master type playing style lol. His shot with a few tweaks is going to be really good, its already quite a quick release for his size, but needs to get more arc. His handle for his age/size is phenominal, and his body control is wild for a 7 footer.

I really, really like him. And think if he hits, or comes close to hitting, he will be one of the most entertaining players in the league to watch. He is a child and is already tremendously confident at times.

I think OKC already has 2/3 of a 'big 3' on their roster right now in SGA and Poku. Thats as hot a take as I will go.

Have you? I think he'd be lowest picked player to ever win MVP. Behind Nash and Giannis.

He wouldn't, as Jokic will win it in the meantime...

Jonathan Bender?
A guy with similar build and skills to Poku.

They have literally zero in common besides being tall and long. Giannis is all athleticism and power while Poku actuall has Basketball skills

Seriously though he reminds me more of a young Dirk (before you go crazy, go back and look at clips of [b]young[b] Dirk: he was much more fluid in his first few years in the league than even the 2011 championship version) or even an even more raw young Durant. Obviously that's no guarantee he'll reach the level of those players, but he's already got the most important physical tool in basketball: height.

I remembered when tmac first came in the league and people were honestly unsure if he would stick. But you could see the size athlecism ball handling ability. I predicted he could be a better scorer than Jordan. Clearly not but he did have a thirty ppg year. Oh and he could shoot it as well.

At 19, it's much better to have someone who does something great once and horrible the next possession, rather them a solid player.
At least if you're swinging to get a superstar at some point

Yup, they’re nothing alike. People keep talking about poku’s great “body control”. That’s giannis. Poku’s body control is atrocious. Next level bad. What Poku has is really good hand eye coordination. Great dribble and passing skills. But he moves like he’s still struggling with puberty.

Jokic has a good chance of winning it this year. After LeBron and Embiid injuries, he's probably the frontrunner now.

It's weird, it has things that reminds me of Jokic, it's not that they look alike ... it's unorthodox, I wouldn't know how to explain it ...
I'll say ... special, different

I think that Kukoc is really the comparison that should be spread around. Both had/have insane hand-eye coordination for their size and move so well with the ball for being tall AF.

I think Poku has the potential to be better as a scorer though.

I think Poku is skilled and has solid upside, but I think MVP is way to high a ceiling for him.

Yes he’s skinny and weak and needs to get a lot stronger, but didn’t people say the same things about KD as a rookie? But he still averaged 20 ppg and looked like he belonged. Maybe he’s more Jonathan Bender than KD. And most likely he’s somewhere in between the 2.
