He's been EXCEPTIONAL on that defensive end lately.
5 beastly blocks tonight.

Everyone loves to compare and whatnot but what actually matters is how that rookie impacts the team and can they help contribute to establishing a culture and identity that can last and so far it's looking good.
Just great for basketball in general.

What about Barnes?

If Barnes works on his game next season he can maybe be regarded as one of the better overall defenders and one of the better mid range shooters.
Another thing to work on is his playmaking.
I don't think Barnes will ever get to great to elite status in his 3 point shooting or free throw shooting, but I think he'll be at least respectable there.
I think for Franz the upside to him is an improved MPJ (not so much scoring but better defensively and a better passer/playmaker).
Man, I really missed on Barnes. I thought he would be a sloppy offensive player with great defense that was a project.
What's your comp ceiling for him at this point?
Wagner very rarely is a stationary shooter, not sure why you have him labeled as that. The only stationary shots I've seen him take is when they pass him the ball with no time on the clock and he has to rush a contested shot.white hopes wrote:normgod6 wrote:Bball Index's LEBRON got released. with most of the all-in-one stats, it's more important to compare them to players in similar roles.
Mobley: 8th out of 74 rolls + cut bigs
Barnes: 26th
Sengun: 13th out of 16 post scorers
cunningham: 32nd out of 43 primary ball handlers
giddy: 40th
Wagner: 42nd out of 61 stationary shooters
it's not perfect because you have to make judgment calls for a lot of archetypes, even players in the same category could have different factors (starter vs. bench player). For example - of the piston's two rookies to play so far Garza has a much better LEBRON than cade. I can guarantee you Garza has not played better.

another bunch of great fakes and post moves, filling the stat sheet nicely. contributed greatly for another impressive win by the on fire Rockets

I got league pass for the first time in my life because of this draft class.
These rookies are all worth keeping tabs on. I already have the following guys circled in as future all-stars (at least): Cade, Mobley, Barnes, Sengun, & Wagner. And I'm certain there will be some more down the line. This draft class is STACKED.
The 19-year-old players can make an impact in the future. I agree tremendous draft and the second tier of players are impressive a lot of wild cards who could turn out as very good players.
Are getting meaningful minutes. Duarte, Jones, Hyland, Mitchell, Robinson-Earl, Dosunmu, Mann, Banton, Murphy, Thomas, Grimes.

We don't have a PG that can get him wide open stationary looks. When Fultz comes back that stat should improve. As for now a majority of his shots are step backs.

Very rarely. The last game is a prime example when Cole got picked off twice trying to draw defenders and kick it to Franz. Fultz is much better at doing that. I remember Fultz constantly getting Vuc open looks by drawing a defender and the behind-the-back pass to Vuc for an open 3.Blue_and_Whte wrote:basketballRob wrote:Wagner very rarely is a stationary shooter, not sure why you have him labeled as that. What? Cole routinely gets Franz wide open stationary looks….

The majority of the Magic board know Cole isn't a good passer and has trouble making a simple pass. His assist to turnover was 1.8 last year and 1.9 now, compared to Chis Paul who is 4.3 this season.

My guess is Franz gets receives more open looks from the centers than he does Cole, then he still has to jab step to get a shot off.OrlMagic05 wrote:basketballRob wrote:Very rarely. I agree with this. Cole does not "routinely" get Franz open looks. Franz creates a lot for himself with his hesitation or euro steps into the paint especially lately.
