Though I am still seeing too strong of a correlation between getting a championship and the player's ranking, 2019 being its best example. I can't agree with giving someone the crown of being the best by having to sit out 20 games.

I felt that was the only fair way of doing it so that it isn't handicapped too much towards players who hadn't been in every poll because they are up and coming.

Polls happened before the beginning of each season so the year shown is the year in which the poll was taken, but the season would be the one that started in that year so 2018 = 2018-2019 season, etc.

I'm not mindful of the timing of ElectricMayhem's polls, but maybe he's been running the polls at the end of each season. People would've ranked Durant in the 2019 poll based on their expectation that he wasn't going to play in '20.
