How is Trae Young considered an All Star when they are 17-23?
I don't follow the hawks that much, but this is a huge disappointment after the ECF last year so far.

4th in points per game on solid efficiency, 3rd in assists per game. Definitely an all-star.

Because we are intelligent enough to separate player performance from team performance.

The teams play and record has been dissapointing, and i dont follow the Hawks closely but its pretty obvious that Trae Young is an all star level player.

Because you don't need to play defense in the all-star game.

Until the metrics that show that he basically gives back everything he gets and more become mainstream guys like that will keep making all star games. Which will never happen

Post his individual stats instead of the team stats and you'll figure it out.

So the logic is: 40 pts per game and 0-40 record guarantees you an all star birth?
I think it goes both ways.

One all star on a bad team is fine, now if they were getting multiple all star picks..

if trae young and tatum and garland makes it, why doesnt fvv make it over lamelo and garland tho? Hes closer in record to garland than trae, has better stats and defense than them? he will probably get in due to covid/injuries, but this is many ppls all star ballot and it just doesnt make sense to me.

All star is more of a popularity contest. I think LaMelo makes it over FVV just off popularity. With Garland, it's a possibility that Jafro gets picked instead, but Cleveland deserves an all star nonetheless as they're 1st among the East in net rating with a better record than Toronto. The East in general is stacked with guards so FVV might be on the outside looking in. And as someone mentioned, Boston had 2 all stars with a losing record. One of Tatum/Brown is guaranteed to make it.
